1 John 2:10-20

NRS 10 Whoever loves a brother or sister lives in the light, and in such a person there is no cause for stumbling. NIV 10 Whoever loves his brother lives in the light, and there is nothing in him to make him stumble. NRS 11 But whoever hates another believer is in the darkness, walks in the darkness, and does not know the way to go, because the darkness has brought on blindness. NIV 11 But whoever hates his brother is in the darkness and walks around in the darkness; he does not know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded him. NRS 12 I am writing to you, little children, because your sins are forgiven on account of his name. NIV 12 I write to you, dear children, because your sins have been forgiven on account of his name. NRS 13 I am writing to you, fathers, because you know him who is from the beginning. I am writing to you, young people, because you have conquered the evil one. NIV 13 I write to you, fathers, because you have known him who is from the beginning. I write to you, young men, because you have overcome the evil one. I write to you, dear children, because you have known the Father. NRS 14 I write to you, children, because you know the Father. I write to you, fathers, because you know him who is from the beginning. I write to you, young people, because you are strong and the word of God abides in you, and you have overcome the evil one. NIV 14 I write to you, fathers, because you have known him who is from the beginning. I write to you, young men, because you are strong, and the word of God lives in you, and you have overcome the evil one. NRS 15 Do not love the world or the things in the world. The love of the Father is not in those who love the world; NIV 15 Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. NRS 16 for all that is in the world—the desire of the flesh, the desire of the eyes, the pride in riches—comes not from the Father but from the world. NIV 16 For everything in the world--the cravings of sinful man, the lust of his eyes and the boasting of what he has and does--comes not from the Father but from the world. NRS 17 And the world and its desire are passing away, but those who do the will of God live forever. NIV 17 The world and its desires pass away, but the man who does the will of God lives forever. NRS 18 Children, it is the last hour! As you have heard that antichrist is coming, so now many antichrists have come. From this we know that it is the last hour. NIV 18 Dear children, this is the last hour; and as you have heard that the antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have come. This is how we know it is the last hour. NRS 19 They went out from us, but they did not belong to us; for if they had belonged to us, they would have remained with us. But by going out they made it plain that none of them belongs to us. NIV 19 They went out from us, but they did not really belong to us. For if they had belonged to us, they would have remained with us; but their going showed that none of them belonged to us. NRS 20 But you have been anointed by the Holy One, and all of you have knowledge. NIV 20 But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and all of you know the truth.
