1 Kings 4:20-34

KJV 20 Judah and Israel were many, as the sand which is by the sea in multitude, eating and drinking , and making merry. NIV 20 The people of Judah and Israel were as numerous as the sand on the seashore; they ate, they drank and they were happy. KJV 21 And Solomon reigned over all kingdoms from the river unto the land of the Philistines, and unto the border of Egypt: they brought presents, and served Solomon all the days of his life. NIV 21 And Solomon ruled over all the kingdoms from the River to the land of the Philistines, as far as the border of Egypt. These countries brought tribute and were Solomon's subjects all his life. KJV 22 And Solomon's provision for one day was thirty measures of fine flour, and threescore measures of meal, NIV 22 Solomon's daily provisions were thirty cors of fine flour and sixty cors of meal, KJV 23 Ten fat oxen, and twenty oxen out of the pastures, and an hundred sheep, beside harts, and roebucks, and fallowdeer, and fatted fowl. NIV 23 ten head of stall-fed cattle, twenty of pasture-fed cattle and a hundred sheep and goats, as well as deer, gazelles, roebucks and choice fowl. KJV 24 For he had dominion over all the region on this side the river, from Tiphsah even to Azzah, over all the kings on this side the river: and he had peace on all sides round about him. NIV 24 For he ruled over all the kingdoms west of the River, from Tiphsah to Gaza, and had peace on all sides. KJV 25 And Judah and Israel dwelt safely, every man under his vine and under his fig tree, from Dan even to Beersheba, all the days of Solomon. NIV 25 During Solomon's lifetime Judah and Israel, from Dan to Beersheba, lived in safety, each man under his own vine and fig tree. KJV 26 And Solomon had forty thousand stalls of horses for his chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen. NIV 26 Solomon had four thousand stalls for chariot horses, and twelve thousand horses. KJV 27 And those officers provided victual for king Solomon, and for all that came unto king Solomon's table, every man in his month: they lacked nothing. NIV 27 The district officers, each in his month, supplied provisions for King Solomon and all who came to the king's table. They saw to it that nothing was lacking. KJV 28 Barley also and straw for the horses and dromedaries brought they unto the place where the officers were, every man according to his charge. NIV 28 They also brought to the proper place their quotas of barley and straw for the chariot horses and the other horses. KJV 29 And God gave Solomon wisdom and understanding exceeding much , and largeness of heart, even as the sand that is on the sea shore. NIV 29 God gave Solomon wisdom and very great insight, and a breadth of understanding as measureless as the sand on the seashore. KJV 30 And Solomon's wisdom excelled the wisdom of all the children of the east country, and all the wisdom of Egypt. NIV 30 Solomon's wisdom was greater than the wisdom of all the men of the East, and greater than all the wisdom of Egypt. KJV 31 For he was wiser than all men; than Ethan the Ezrahite, and Heman, and Chalcol, and Darda, the sons of Mahol: and his fame was in all nations round about. NIV 31 He was wiser than any other man, including Ethan the Ezrahite--wiser than Heman, Calcol and Darda, the sons of Mahol. And his fame spread to all the surrounding nations. KJV 32 And he spake three thousand proverbs: and his songs were a thousand and five. NIV 32 He spoke three thousand proverbs and his songs numbered a thousand and five. KJV 33 And he spake of trees, from the cedar tree that is in Lebanon even unto the hyssop that springeth out of the wall: he spake also of beasts, and of fowl, and of creeping things, and of fishes. NIV 33 He described plant life, from the cedar of Lebanon to the hyssop that grows out of walls. He also taught about animals and birds, reptiles and fish. KJV 34 And there came of all people to hear the wisdom of Solomon, from all kings of the earth, which had heard of his wisdom. NIV 34 Men of all nations came to listen to Solomon's wisdom, sent by all the kings of the world, who had heard of his wisdom.
