1 Peter 2:20-25

ESV 20 For what credit is it if, when you sin and are beaten for it, you endure? But if when you do good and suffer for it you endure, this is a gracious thing in the sight of God. NIV 20 But how is it to your credit if you receive a beating for doing wrong and endure it? But if you suffer for doing good and you endure it, this is commendable before God. ESV 21 For to this you have been called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you might follow in his steps. NIV 21 To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps. ESV 22 He committed no sin, neither was deceit found in his mouth. NIV 22 "He committed no sin, and no deceit was found in his mouth." ESV 23 When he was reviled, he did not revile in return; when he suffered, he did not threaten, but continued entrusting himself to him who judges justly. NIV 23 When they hurled their insults at him, he did not retaliate; when he suffered, he made no threats. Instead, he entrusted himself to him who judges justly. ESV 24 He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed. NIV 24 He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed. ESV 25 For you were straying like sheep, but have now returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls. NIV 25 For you were like sheep going astray, but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.
