1 Peter 4:12-16

NLT 12 Dear friends, don't be surprised at the fiery trials you are going through, as if something strange were happening to you. NIV 12 Dear friends, do not be surprised at the painful trial you are suffering, as though something strange were happening to you. NLT 13 Instead, be very glad -- because these trials will make you partners with Christ in his suffering, and afterward you will have the wonderful joy of sharing his glory when it is displayed to all the world. NIV 13 But rejoice that you participate in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed when his glory is revealed. NLT 14 Be happy if you are insulted for being a Christian, for then the glorious Spirit of God will come upon you. NIV 14 If you are insulted because of the name of Christ, you are blessed, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you. NLT 15 If you suffer, however, it must not be for murder, stealing, making trouble, or prying into other people's affairs. NIV 15 If you suffer, it should not be as a murderer or thief or any other kind of criminal, or even as a meddler. NLT 16 But it is no shame to suffer for being a Christian. Praise God for the privilege of being called by his wonderful name! NIV 16 However, if you suffer as a Christian, do not be ashamed, but praise God that you bear that name.
