2 Corinthians 6

ASV 1 And working together [with him] we entreat also that ye receive not the grace of God in vain NIV 1 As God's fellow workers we urge you not to receive God's grace in vain. ASV 2 (for he saith, At an acceptable time I hearkened unto thee, And in a day of salvation did I succor thee: behold, now is the acceptable time; behold, now is the day of salvation): NIV 2 For he says, "In the time of my favor I heard you, and in the day of salvation I helped you." I tell you, now is the time of God's favor, now is the day of salvation. ASV 3 giving no occasion of stumbling in anything, that our ministration be not blamed; NIV 3 We put no stumbling block in anyone's path, so that our ministry will not be discredited. ASV 4 but in everything commending ourselves, as ministers of God, in much patience, in afflictions, in necessities, in distresses, NIV 4 Rather, as servants of God we commend ourselves in every way: in great endurance; in troubles, hardships and distresses; ASV 5 in stripes, in imprisonments, in tumults, in labors, in watchings, in fastings; NIV 5 in beatings, imprisonments and riots; in hard work, sleepless nights and hunger; ASV 6 in pureness, in knowledge, in long suffering, in kindness, in the Holy Spirit, in love unfeigned, NIV 6 in purity, understanding, patience and kindness; in the Holy Spirit and in sincere love; ASV 7 in the word of truth, in the power of God; by the armor of righteousness on the right hand and on the left, NIV 7 in truthful speech and in the power of God; with weapons of righteousness in the right hand and in the left; ASV 8 by glory and dishonor, by evil report and good report; as deceivers, and [yet] true; NIV 8 through glory and dishonor, bad report and good report; genuine, yet regarded as impostors; ASV 9 as unknown, and [yet] well known; as dying, and behold, we live; as chastened, and not killed; NIV 9 known, yet regarded as unknown; dying, and yet we live on; beaten, and yet not killed; ASV 10 as sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, and [yet] possessing all things. NIV 10 sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; poor, yet making many rich; having nothing, and yet possessing everything. ASV 11 Our mouth is open unto you, O Corinthians, our heart is enlarged. NIV 11 We have spoken freely to you, Corinthians, and opened wide our hearts to you. ASV 12 Ye are not straitened in us, but ye are straitened in your own affections. NIV 12 We are not withholding our affection from you, but you are withholding yours from us. ASV 13 Now for a recompense in like kind (I speak as unto [my] children), be ye also enlarged. NIV 13 As a fair exchange--I speak as to my children--open wide your hearts also. ASV 14 Be not unequally yoked with unbelievers: for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? or what communion hath light with darkness? NIV 14 Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness? ASV 15 And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what portion hath a believer with an unbeliever? NIV 15 What harmony is there between Christ and Belial ? What does a believer have in common with an unbeliever? ASV 16 And what agreement hath a temple of God with idols? for we are a temple of the living God; even as God said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. NIV 16 What agreement is there between the temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God has said: "I will live with them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they will be my people." ASV 17 Wherefore Come ye out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, And touch no unclean thing; And I will receive you, NIV 17 "Therefore come out from them and be separate, says the Lord. Touch no unclean thing, and I will receive you." ASV 18 And will be to you a Father, And ye shall be to me sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty. NIV 18 "I will be a Father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty."
