2 Chronicles 7:11-22

NLT 11 So Solomon finished building the Temple of the LORD, as well as the royal palace. He completed everything he had planned to do. NIV 11 When Solomon had finished the temple of the LORD and the royal palace, and had succeeded in carrying out all he had in mind to do in the temple of the LORD and in his own palace, NLT 12 Then one night the LORD appeared to Solomon and said, "I have heard your prayer and have chosen this Temple as the place for making sacrifices. NIV 12 the LORD appeared to him at night and said: "I have heard your prayer and have chosen this place for myself as a temple for sacrifices. NLT 13 At times I might shut up the heavens so that no rain falls, or I might command locusts to devour your crops, or I might send plagues among you. NIV 13 "When I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or command locusts to devour the land or send a plague among my people, NLT 14 Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and heal their land. NIV 14 if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. NLT 15 I will listen to every prayer made in this place, NIV 15 Now my eyes will be open and my ears attentive to the prayers offered in this place. NLT 16 for I have chosen this Temple and set it apart to be my home forever. My eyes and my heart will always be here." NIV 16 I have chosen and consecrated this temple so that my Name may be there forever. My eyes and my heart will always be there. NLT 17 "As for you, if you follow me as your father, David, did and obey all my commands, laws, and regulations, NIV 17 "As for you, if you walk before me as David your father did, and do all I command, and observe my decrees and laws, NLT 18 then I will not let anyone take away your throne. This is the same promise I gave your father, David, when I said, 'You will never fail to have a successor who rules over Israel.'" NIV 18 I will establish your royal throne, as I covenanted with David your father when I said, 'You shall never fail to have a man to rule over Israel.' NLT 19 "But if you abandon me and disobey the laws and commands I have given you, and if you go and worship other gods, NIV 19 "But if you turn away and forsake the decrees and commands I have given you and go off to serve other gods and worship them, NLT 20 then I will uproot the people of Israel from this land of mine that I have given them. I will reject this Temple that I have set apart to honor my name. I will make it a spectacle of contempt among the nations. NIV 20 then I will uproot Israel from my land, which I have given them, and will reject this temple I have consecrated for my Name. I will make it a byword and an object of ridicule among all peoples. NLT 21 And though this Temple is impressive now, it will become an appalling sight to all who pass by. They will ask, 'Why has the LORD done such terrible things to his land and to his Temple?' NIV 21 And though this temple is now so imposing, all who pass by will be appalled and say, 'Why has the LORD done such a thing to this land and to this temple?' NLT 22 And the answer will be, 'Because his people abandoned the LORD, the God of their ancestors, who brought them out of Egypt, and they worshiped other gods instead. That is why he brought all these disasters upon them.'" NIV 22 People will answer, 'Because they have forsaken the LORD, the God of their fathers, who brought them out of Egypt, and have embraced other gods, worshiping and serving them--that is why he brought all this disaster on them.'
