2 Corinthians 1:12-24

NAS 12 For our proud confidence is this: the testimony of our conscience, that in holiness and godly sincerity, not in fleshly wisdom but in the grace of God, we have conducted ourselves in the world, and especially toward you. NIV 12 Now this is our boast: Our conscience testifies that we have conducted ourselves in the world, and especially in our relations with you, in the holiness and sincerity that are from God. We have done so not according to worldly wisdom but according to God's grace. NAS 13 For we write nothing else to you than what you read and understand, and I hope you will understand until the end; NIV 13 For we do not write you anything you cannot read or understand. And I hope that, NAS 14 just as you also partially did understand us, that we are your reason to be proud as you also are ours, in the day of our Lord Jesus. NIV 14 as you have understood us in part, you will come to understand fully that you can boast of us just as we will boast of you in the day of the Lord Jesus. NAS 15 In this confidence I intended at first to come to you, so that you might twice receive a blessing; NIV 15 Because I was confident of this, I planned to visit you first so that you might benefit twice. NAS 16 that is, to pass your way into Macedonia, and again from Macedonia to come to you, and by you to be helped on my journey to Judea. NIV 16 I planned to visit you on my way to Macedonia and to come back to you from Macedonia, and then to have you send me on my way to Judea. NAS 17 Therefore, I was not vacillating when I intended to do this, was I? Or what I purpose, do I purpose according to the flesh, so that with me there will be yes, yes and no, no at the same time? NIV 17 When I planned this, did I do it lightly? Or do I make my plans in a worldly manner so that in the same breath I say, "Yes, yes" and "No, no"? NAS 18 But as God is faithful, our word to you is not yes and no. NIV 18 But as surely as God is faithful, our message to you is not "Yes" and "No." NAS 19 For the Son of God, Christ Jesus, who was preached among you by us-by me and Silvanus and Timothy -was not yes and no, but is yes in Him. NIV 19 For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who was preached among you by me and Silas and Timothy, was not "Yes" and "No," but in him it has always been "Yes." NAS 20 For as many as are the promises of God, in Him they are yes; therefore also through Him is our Amen to the glory of God through us. NIV 20 For no matter how many promises God has made, they are "Yes" in Christ. And so through him the "Amen" is spoken by us to the glory of God. NAS 21 Now He who establishes us with you in Christ and anointed us is God, NIV 21 Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ. He anointed us, NAS 22 who also sealed us and gave us the Spirit in our hearts as a pledge. NIV 22 set his seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come. NAS 23 But I call God as witness to my soul, that to spare you I did not come again to Corinth. NIV 23 I call God as my witness that it was in order to spare you that I did not return to Corinth. NAS 24 Not that we lord it over your faith, but are workers with you for your joy; for in your faith you are standing firm. NIV 24 Not that we lord it over your faith, but we work with you for your joy, because it is by faith you stand firm.
