2 Corinthians 4:7-16

RSV 7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, to show that the transcendent power belongs to God and not to us. NIV 7 But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. RSV 8 We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; NIV 8 We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; RSV 9 persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed; NIV 9 persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. RSV 10 always carrying in the body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be manifested in our bodies. NIV 10 We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body. RSV 11 For while we live we are always being given up to death for Jesus' sake, so that the life of Jesus may be manifested in our mortal flesh. NIV 11 For we who are alive are always being given over to death for Jesus' sake, so that his life may be revealed in our mortal body. RSV 12 So death is at work in us, but life in you. NIV 12 So then, death is at work in us, but life is at work in you. RSV 13 Since we have the same spirit of faith as he had who wrote, "I believed, and so I spoke," we too believe, and so we speak, NIV 13 It is written: "I believed; therefore I have spoken." With that same spirit of faith we also believe and therefore speak, RSV 14 knowing that he who raised the Lord Jesus will raise us also with Jesus and bring us with you into his presence. NIV 14 because we know that the one who raised the Lord Jesus from the dead will also raise us with Jesus and present us with you in his presence. RSV 15 For it is all for your sake, so that as grace extends to more and more people it may increase thanksgiving, to the glory of God. NIV 15 All this is for your benefit, so that the grace that is reaching more and more people may cause thanksgiving to overflow to the glory of God. RSV 16 So we do not lose heart. Though our outer nature is wasting away, our inner nature is being renewed every day. NIV 16 Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.
