2 Corinthians 5:6-16

RSV 6 So we are always of good courage; we know that while we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord, NIV 6 Therefore we are always confident and know that as long as we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord. RSV 7 for we walk by faith, not by sight. NIV 7 We live by faith, not by sight. RSV 8 We are of good courage, and we would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord. NIV 8 We are confident, I say, and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord. RSV 9 So whether we are at home or away, we make it our aim to please him. NIV 9 So we make it our goal to please him, whether we are at home in the body or away from it. RSV 10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may receive good or evil, according to what he has done in the body. NIV 10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive what is due him for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad. RSV 11 Therefore, knowing the fear of the Lord, we persuade men; but what we are is known to God, and I hope it is known also to your conscience. NIV 11 Since, then, we know what it is to fear the Lord, we try to persuade men. What we are is plain to God, and I hope it is also plain to your conscience. RSV 12 We are not commending ourselves to you again but giving you cause to be proud of us, so that you may be able to answer those who pride themselves on a man's position and not on his heart. NIV 12 We are not trying to commend ourselves to you again, but are giving you an opportunity to take pride in us, so that you can answer those who take pride in what is seen rather than in what is in the heart. RSV 13 For if we are beside ourselves, it is for God; if we are in our right mind, it is for you. NIV 13 If we are out of our mind, it is for the sake of God; if we are in our right mind, it is for you. RSV 14 For the love of Christ controls us, because we are convinced that one has died for all; therefore all have died. NIV 14 For Christ's love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died. RSV 15 And he died for all, that those who live might live no longer for themselves but for him who for their sake died and was raised. NIV 15 And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again. RSV 16 From now on, therefore, we regard no one from a human point of view; even though we once regarded Christ from a human point of view, we regard him thus no longer. NIV 16 So from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view. Though we once regarded Christ in this way, we do so no longer.
