2 Corinthians 8:11-21

RSV 11 so that your readiness in desiring it may be matched by your completing it out of what you have. NIV 11 Now finish the work, so that your eager willingness to do it may be matched by your completion of it, according to your means. RSV 12 For if the readiness is there, it is acceptable according to what a man has, not according to what he has not. NIV 12 For if the willingness is there, the gift is acceptable according to what one has, not according to what he does not have. RSV 13 I do not mean that others should be eased and you burdened, NIV 13 Our desire is not that others might be relieved while you are hard pressed, but that there might be equality. RSV 14 but that as a matter of equality your abundance at the present time should supply their want, so that their abundance may supply your want, that there may be equality. NIV 14 At the present time your plenty will supply what they need, so that in turn their plenty will supply what you need. Then there will be equality, RSV 15 As it is written, "He who gathered much had nothing over, and he who gathered little had no lack." NIV 15 as it is written: "He who gathered much did not have too much, and he who gathered little did not have too little." RSV 16 But thanks be to God who puts the same earnest care for you into the heart of Titus. NIV 16 I thank God, who put into the heart of Titus the same concern I have for you. RSV 17 For he not only accepted our appeal, but being himself very earnest he is going to you of his own accord. NIV 17 For Titus not only welcomed our appeal, but he is coming to you with much enthusiasm and on his own initiative. RSV 18 With him we are sending the brother who is famous among all the churches for his preaching of the gospel; NIV 18 And we are sending along with him the brother who is praised by all the churches for his service to the gospel. RSV 19 and not only that, but he has been appointed by the churches to travel with us in this gracious work which we are carrying on, for the glory of the Lord and to show our good will. NIV 19 What is more, he was chosen by the churches to accompany us as we carry the offering, which we administer in order to honor the Lord himself and to show our eagerness to help. RSV 20 We intend that no one should blame us about this liberal gift which we are administering, NIV 20 We want to avoid any criticism of the way we administer this liberal gift. RSV 21 for we aim at what is honorable not only in the Lord's sight but also in the sight of men. NIV 21 For we are taking pains to do what is right, not only in the eyes of the Lord but also in the eyes of men.
