2 Samuel 7:11-21

NLT 11 from the time I appointed judges to rule my people. And I will keep you safe from all your enemies." 'And now the LORD declares that he will build a house for you -- a dynasty of kings! NIV 11 and have done ever since the time I appointed leaders over my people Israel. I will also give you rest from all your enemies. " 'The LORD declares to you that the LORD himself will establish a house for you: NLT 12 For when you die, I will raise up one of your descendants, and I will make his kingdom strong. NIV 12 When your days are over and you rest with your fathers, I will raise up your offspring to succeed you, who will come from your own body, and I will establish his kingdom. NLT 13 He is the one who will build a house -- a temple -- for my name. And I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever. NIV 13 He is the one who will build a house for my Name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever. NLT 14 I will be his father, and he will be my son. If he sins, I will use other nations to punish him. NIV 14 I will be his father, and he will be my son. When he does wrong, I will punish him with the rod of men, with floggings inflicted by men. NLT 15 But my unfailing love will not be taken from him as I took it from Saul, whom I removed before you. NIV 15 But my love will never be taken away from him, as I took it away from Saul, whom I removed from before you. NLT 16 Your dynasty and your kingdom will continue for all time before me, and your throne will be secure forever." NIV 16 Your house and your kingdom will endure forever before me; your throne will be established forever.' " NLT 17 So Nathan went back to David and told him everything the LORD had said. NIV 17 Nathan reported to David all the words of this entire revelation. NLT 18 Then King David went in and sat before the LORD and prayed, "Who am I, O Sovereign LORD, and what is my family, that you have brought me this far? NIV 18 Then King David went in and sat before the LORD, and he said: "Who am I, O Sovereign LORD, and what is my family, that you have brought me this far? NLT 19 And now, Sovereign LORD, in addition to everything else, you speak of giving me a lasting dynasty! Do you deal with everyone this way, O Sovereign LORD? NIV 19 And as if this were not enough in your sight, O Sovereign LORD, you have also spoken about the future of the house of your servant. Is this your usual way of dealing with man, O Sovereign LORD? NLT 20 What more can I say? You know what I am really like, Sovereign LORD. NIV 20 "What more can David say to you? For you know your servant, O Sovereign LORD. NLT 21 For the sake of your promise and according to your will, you have done all these great things and have shown them to me." NIV 21 For the sake of your word and according to your will, you have done this great thing and made it known to your servant.
