2 Thessalonians 3

NCV 1 And now, brothers and sisters, pray for us that the Lord's teaching will continue to spread quickly and that people will give honor to that teaching, just as happened with you. NIV 1 Finally, brothers, pray for us that the message of the Lord may spread rapidly and be honored, just as it was with you. NCV 2 And pray that we will be protected from stubborn and evil people, because not all people believe. NIV 2 And pray that we may be delivered from wicked and evil men, for not everyone has faith. NCV 3 But the Lord is faithful and will give you strength and will protect you from the Evil One. NIV 3 But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen and protect you from the evil one. NCV 4 The Lord makes us feel sure that you are doing and will continue to do the things we told you. NIV 4 We have confidence in the Lord that you are doing and will continue to do the things we command. NCV 5 May the Lord lead your hearts into God's love and Christ's patience. NIV 5 May the Lord direct your hearts into God's love and Christ's perseverance. NCV 6 Brothers and sisters, by the authority of our Lord Jesus Christ we command you to stay away from any believer who refuses to work and does not follow the teaching we gave you. NIV 6 In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, we command you, brothers, to keep away from every brother who is idle and does not live according to the teaching you received from us. NCV 7 You yourselves know that you should live as we live. We were not lazy when we were with you. NIV 7 For you yourselves know how you ought to follow our example. We were not idle when we were with you, NCV 8 And when we ate another person's food, we always paid for it. We worked very hard night and day so we would not be an expense to any of you. NIV 8 nor did we eat anyone's food without paying for it. On the contrary, we worked night and day, laboring and toiling so that we would not be a burden to any of you. NCV 9 We had the right to ask you to help us, but we worked to take care of ourselves so we would be an example for you to follow. NIV 9 We did this, not because we do not have the right to such help, but in order to make ourselves a model for you to follow. NCV 10 When we were with you, we gave you this rule: "Anyone who refuses to work should not eat." NIV 10 For even when we were with you, we gave you this rule: "If a man will not work, he shall not eat." NCV 11 We hear that some people in your group refuse to work. They do nothing but busy themselves in other people's lives. NIV 11 We hear that some among you are idle. They are not busy; they are busybodies. NCV 12 We command those people and beg them in the Lord Jesus Christ to work quietly and earn their own food. NIV 12 Such people we command and urge in the Lord Jesus Christ to settle down and earn the bread they eat. NCV 13 But you, brothers and sisters, never become tired of doing good. NIV 13 And as for you, brothers, never tire of doing what is right. NCV 14 If some people do not obey what we tell you in this letter, then take note of them. Have nothing to do with them so they will feel ashamed. NIV 14 If anyone does not obey our instruction in this letter, take special note of him. Do not associate with him, in order that he may feel ashamed. NCV 15 But do not treat them as enemies. Warn them as fellow believers. NIV 15 Yet do not regard him as an enemy, but warn him as a brother. NCV 16 Now may the Lord of peace give you peace at all times and in every way. The Lord be with all of you. NIV 16 Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times and in every way. The Lord be with all of you. NCV 17 I, Paul, end this letter now in my own handwriting. All my letters have this to show they are from me. This is the way I write. NIV 17 I, Paul, write this greeting in my own hand, which is the distinguishing mark in all my letters. This is how I write. NCV 18 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. NIV 18 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.
