2 Thessalonians 3:6-15

NLT 6 And now, dear brothers and sisters, we give you this command in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ: Stay away from all believers who live idle lives and don’t follow the tradition they received from us. NIV 6 In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, we command you, brothers, to keep away from every brother who is idle and does not live according to the teaching you received from us. NLT 7 For you know that you ought to imitate us. We were not idle when we were with you. NIV 7 For you yourselves know how you ought to follow our example. We were not idle when we were with you, NLT 8 We never accepted food from anyone without paying for it. We worked hard day and night so we would not be a burden to any of you. NIV 8 nor did we eat anyone's food without paying for it. On the contrary, we worked night and day, laboring and toiling so that we would not be a burden to any of you. NLT 9 We certainly had the right to ask you to feed us, but we wanted to give you an example to follow. NIV 9 We did this, not because we do not have the right to such help, but in order to make ourselves a model for you to follow. NLT 10 Even while we were with you, we gave you this command: “Those unwilling to work will not get to eat.” NIV 10 For even when we were with you, we gave you this rule: "If a man will not work, he shall not eat." NLT 11 Yet we hear that some of you are living idle lives, refusing to work and meddling in other people’s business. NIV 11 We hear that some among you are idle. They are not busy; they are busybodies. NLT 12 We command such people and urge them in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ to settle down and work to earn their own living. NIV 12 Such people we command and urge in the Lord Jesus Christ to settle down and earn the bread they eat. NLT 13 As for the rest of you, dear brothers and sisters, never get tired of doing good. NIV 13 And as for you, brothers, never tire of doing what is right. NLT 14 Take note of those who refuse to obey what we say in this letter. Stay away from them so they will be ashamed. NIV 14 If anyone does not obey our instruction in this letter, take special note of him. Do not associate with him, in order that he may feel ashamed. NLT 15 Don’t think of them as enemies, but warn them as you would a brother or sister. NIV 15 Yet do not regard him as an enemy, but warn him as a brother.
