NKJV 4 greatly desiring to see you, being mindful of your tears, that I may be filled with joy, NIV 4 Recalling your tears, I long to see you, so that I may be filled with joy. NKJV 5 when I call to remembrance the genuine faith that is in you, which dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice, and I am persuaded is in you also. NIV 5 I have been reminded of your sincere faith, which first lived in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice and, I am persuaded, now lives in you also. NKJV 6 Therefore I remind you to stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands. NIV 6 For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands. NKJV 7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. NKJV 8 Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me His prisoner, but share with me in the sufferings for the gospel according to the power of God, NIV 8 So do not be ashamed to testify about our Lord, or ashamed of me his prisoner. But join with me in suffering for the gospel, by the power of God, NKJV 9 who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began, NIV 9 who has saved us and called us to a holy life--not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time, NKJV 10 but has now been revealed by the appearing of our Savior Jesus Christ, who has abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel, NIV 10 but it has now been revealed through the appearing of our Savior, Christ Jesus, who has destroyed death and has brought life and immortality to light through the gospel. NKJV 11 to which I was appointed a preacher, an apostle, and a teacher of the Gentiles. NIV 11 And of this gospel I was appointed a herald and an apostle and a teacher. NKJV 12 For this reason I also suffer these things; nevertheless I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed to Him until that Day. NIV 12 That is why I am suffering as I am. Yet I am not ashamed, because I know whom I have believed, and am convinced that he is able to guard what I have entrusted to him for that day. NKJV 13 Hold fast the pattern of sound words which you have heard from me, in faith and love which are in Christ Jesus. NIV 13 What you heard from me, keep as the pattern of sound teaching, with faith and love in Christ Jesus. NKJV 14 That good thing which was committed to you, keep by the Holy Spirit who dwells in us. NIV 14 Guard the good deposit that was entrusted to you--guard it with the help of the Holy Spirit who lives in us. NKJV 15 This you know, that all those in Asia have turned away from me, among whom are Phygellus and Hermogenes. NIV 15 You know that everyone in the province of Asia has deserted me, including Phygelus and Hermogenes. NKJV 16 The Lord grant mercy to the household of Onesiphorus, for he often refreshed me, and was not ashamed of my chain; NIV 16 May the Lord show mercy to the household of Onesiphorus, because he often refreshed me and was not ashamed of my chains.
