1 Then Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,
1 The LORD said to Moses,
2 "Command the {Israelites} and say to them, 'When you come into the land of Canaan, this [is] the land that was allotted to you as an inheritance, the land of Canaan according to its boundaries.
2 “Command the Israelites and say to them: ‘When you enter Canaan, the land that will be allotted to you as an inheritance is to have these boundaries:
3 Your southern edge will be from the desert of Zin toward the side of Edom, and your southern border will be from the end of the Salt Sea to the east;
3 “ ‘Your southern side will include some of the Desert of Zin along the border of Edom. Your southern boundary will start in the east from the southern end of the Dead Sea,
4 your boundary will turn from the south to the ascent of Akrabbim and will pass over to Zin, and its limits will be from the south of Kadesh Barnea; it will continue to Hazar Addar and pass over to Azmon.
4 cross south of Scorpion Pass, continue on to Zin and go south of Kadesh Barnea. Then it will go to Hazar Addar and over to Azmon,
5 The boundary will turn from Azmon to the valley of Egypt, and its limits will be to the sea.
5 where it will turn, join the Wadi of Egypt and end at the Mediterranean Sea.
6 " 'Your western boundary will be the Great Sea; this will be your western boundary.
6 “ ‘Your western boundary will be the coast of the Mediterranean Sea. This will be your boundary on the west.
7 Your northern border will be from the Great Sea; you will make a boundary from the Great Sea to Mount Hor.
7 “ ‘For your northern boundary, run a line from the Mediterranean Sea to Mount Hor
8 From Mount Hor you will make a boundary to reach Hamath; the limits of the territory will be at Zedad.
8 and from Mount Hor to Lebo Hamath. Then the boundary will go to Zedad,
9 The boundary will go out to Ziphron, and its limits will be at Hazar Enan. This will be your boundary to the north.
9 continue to Ziphron and end at Hazar Enan. This will be your boundary on the north.
10 " 'You will mark out your eastern boundary from Hazar Enan to Shepham;
10 “ ‘For your eastern boundary, run a line from Hazar Enan to Shepham.
11 the boundary will go down from Shepham to Riblah from the east side of Ain, and the boundary will go down and border on the eastern side of the Sea of Kinnereth.
11 The boundary will go down from Shepham to Riblah on the east side of Ain and continue along the slopes east of the Sea of Galilee.
12 The boundary will go down to the Jordan, and its limits will be at the Salt Sea. This will be your land according to its boundaries all around.'"
12 Then the boundary will go down along the Jordan and end at the Dead Sea. “ ‘This will be your land, with its boundaries on every side.’ ”
13 So Moses commanded the {Israelites}, saying, "This [is] the land that you will obtain as an inheritance for yourself by lot, which Yahweh commanded to give to the nine and a half tribes.
13 Moses commanded the Israelites: “Assign this land by lot as an inheritance. The LORD has ordered that it be given to the nine-and-a-half tribes,
14 For the tribe of the children of the Reubenites, the children of the Gadites, and the half-tribe of Manasseh took their inheritance according to the house of their families.
14 because the families of the tribe of Reuben, the tribe of Gad and the half-tribe of Manasseh have received their inheritance.
15 The two and a half tribes have taken their inheritance from beyond the Jordan [across] Jericho, east toward the sunrise."
15 These two-and-a-half tribes have received their inheritance east of the Jordan across from Jericho, toward the sunrise.”
16 Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,
16 The LORD said to Moses,
17 "These [are] the names of the men who divide up the land for your inheritance: Eleazar the priest and Joshua son of Nun.
17 “These are the names of the men who are to assign the land for you as an inheritance: Eleazar the priest and Joshua son of Nun.
18 You will take one leader from every tribe to divide up the land for inheritance.
18 And appoint one leader from each tribe to help assign the land.
19 These [are] the names of the men: of the tribe of Judah, Caleb son of Jephunneh;
19 These are their names: Caleb son of Jephunneh, from the tribe of Judah;
20 of the tribe of the descendants of Simeon, Samuel son of Ammihud;
20 Shemuel son of Ammihud, from the tribe of Simeon;
21 of the tribe of Benjamin, Elidad son of Chislon;
21 Elidad son of Kislon, from the tribe of Benjamin;
22 of the tribe of the descendants of Dan, the leader Bukki son of Jogli;
22 Bukki son of Jogli, the leader from the tribe of Dan;
23 of the descendants of Joseph, the tribe of the descendants of Manasseh, the leader Hanniel son of Ephod.
23 Hanniel son of Ephod, the leader from the tribe of Manasseh son of Joseph;
24 Of the tribe of the descendants of Ephraim, the leader Kemuel son of Shiphtan;
24 Kemuel son of Shiphtan, the leader from the tribe of Ephraim son of Joseph;
25 of the tribe of the descendants of Zebulum, the leader Elizaphan son of Parnach;
25 Elizaphan son of Parnak, the leader from the tribe of Zebulun;
26 of the tribe of the descendants of Issachar, the leader Paltiel son of Azzan;
26 Paltiel son of Azzan, the leader from the tribe of Issachar;
27 of the tribe of the descendants of Asher, the leader Ahihud son of Shelomi;
27 Ahihud son of Shelomi, the leader from the tribe of Asher;
28 of the tribe of the descendants of Naphtali, the leader Pedahel son of Ammihud."
28 Pedahel son of Ammihud, the leader from the tribe of Naphtali.”
29 These are those whom Yahweh commanded to allot to the {Israelites} the land of Canaan.
29 These are the men the LORD commanded to assign the inheritance to the Israelites in the land of Canaan.
