17 For all the firstborn of the sons of Israel <em>are</em> mine, <em>both</em> of man and of animals; from the day that <em>I </em>smote every firstborn in the land of Egypt I sanctified them for myself.
17 Every firstborn male in Israel, whether human or animal, is mine. When I struck down all the firstborn in Egypt, I set them apart for myself.
