Psalms 92

RSV

NIV

1 A Psalm. A Song for the Sabbath. It is good to give thanks to the LORD, to sing praises to thy name, O Most High;
1 It is good to praise the LORDand make music to your name, O Most High,
2 to declare thy steadfast love in the morning, and thy faithfulness by night,
2 proclaiming your love in the morning and your faithfulness at night,
3 to the music of the lute and the harp, to the melody of the lyre.
3 to the music of the ten-stringed lyre and the melody of the harp.
4 For thou, O LORD, hast made me glad by thy work; at the works of thy hands I sing for joy.
4 For you make me glad by your deeds, LORD; I sing for joy at what your hands have done.
5 How great are thy works, O LORD! Thy thoughts are very deep!
5 How great are your works, LORD, how profound your thoughts!
6 The dull man cannot know, the stupid cannot understand this:
6 Senseless people do not know, fools do not understand,
7 that, though the wicked sprout like grass and all evildoers flourish, they are doomed to destruction for ever,
7 that though the wicked spring up like grass and all evildoers flourish, they will be destroyed forever.
8 but thou, O LORD, art on high for ever.
8 But you, LORD, are forever exalted.
9 For, lo, thy enemies, O LORD, for, lo, thy enemies shall perish; all evildoers shall be scattered.
9 For surely your enemies, LORD, surely your enemies will perish; all evildoers will be scattered.
10 But thou hast exalted my horn like that of the wild ox; thou hast poured over me fresh oil.
10 You have exalted my horn like that of a wild ox; fine oils have been poured on me.
11 My eyes have seen the downfall of my enemies, my ears have heard the doom of my evil assailants.
11 My eyes have seen the defeat of my adversaries; my ears have heard the rout of my wicked foes.
12 The righteous flourish like the palm tree, and grow like a cedar in Lebanon.
12 The righteous will flourish like a palm tree, they will grow like a cedar of Lebanon;
13 They are planted in the house of the LORD, they flourish in the courts of our God.
13 planted in the house of the LORD, they will flourish in the courts of our God.
14 They still bring forth fruit in old age, they are ever full of sap and green,
14 They will still bear fruit in old age, they will stay fresh and green,
15 to show that the LORD is upright; he is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in him.
15 proclaiming, “The LORD is upright; he is my Rock, and there is no wickedness in him.”
