NKJV 1 When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. NIV 1 When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. NKJV 2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. NIV 2 Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. NKJV 3 Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. NIV 3 They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. NKJV 4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. NIV 4 All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them. NKJV 5 And there were dwelling in Jerusalem Jews, devout men, from every nation under heaven. NIV 5 Now there were staying in Jerusalem God-fearing Jews from every nation under heaven. NKJV 6 And when this sound occurred, the multitude came together, and were confused, because everyone heard them speak in his own language. NIV 6 When they heard this sound, a crowd came together in bewilderment, because each one heard them speaking in his own language. NKJV 7 Then they were all amazed and marveled, saying to one another, "Look, are not all these who speak Galileans? NIV 7 Utterly amazed, they asked: "Are not all these men who are speaking Galileans? NKJV 8 And how is it that we hear, each in our own language in which we were born? NIV 8 Then how is it that each of us hears them in his own native language? NKJV 9 Parthians and Medes and Elamites, those dwelling in Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, NIV 9 Parthians, Medes and Elamites; residents of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, NKJV 10 Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya adjoining Cyrene, visitors from Rome, both Jews and proselytes, NIV 10 Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya near Cyrene; visitors from Rome NKJV 11 Cretans and Arabs--we hear them speaking in our own tongues the wonderful works of God." NIV 11 (both Jews and converts to Judaism); Cretans and Arabs--we hear them declaring the wonders of God in our own tongues!" NKJV 12 So they were all amazed and perplexed, saying to one another, "Whatever could this mean?" NIV 12 Amazed and perplexed, they asked one another, "What does this mean?" NKJV 13 Others mocking said, "They are full of new wine." NIV 13 Some, however, made fun of them and said, "They have had too much wine. " NKJV 14 But Peter, standing up with the eleven, raised his voice and said to them, "Men of Judea and all who dwell in Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and heed my words. NIV 14 Then Peter stood up with the Eleven, raised his voice and addressed the crowd: "Fellow Jews and all of you who live in Jerusalem, let me explain this to you; listen carefully to what I say. NKJV 15 For these are not drunk, as you suppose, since it is only the third hour of the day. NIV 15 These men are not drunk, as you suppose. It's only nine in the morning! NKJV 16 But this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel: NIV 16 No, this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel: NKJV 17 'And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God, That I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh; Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, Your young men shall see visions, Your old men shall dream dreams. NIV 17 " 'In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams. NKJV 18 And on My menservants and on My maidservants I will pour out My Spirit in those days; And they shall prophesy. NIV 18 Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days, and they will prophesy. NKJV 19 I will show wonders in heaven above And signs in the earth beneath: Blood and fire and vapor of smoke. NIV 19 I will show wonders in the heaven above and signs on the earth below, blood and fire and billows of smoke. NKJV 20 The sun shall be turned into darkness, And the moon into blood, Before the coming of the great and awesome day of the Lord. NIV 20 The sun will be turned to darkness and the moon to blood before the coming of the great and glorious day of the Lord. NKJV 21 And it shall come to pass That whoever calls on the name of the Lord Shall be saved.' NIV 21 And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.' NKJV 22 "Men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a Man attested by God to you by miracles, wonders, and signs which God did through Him in your midst, as you yourselves also know-- NIV 22 "Men of Israel, listen to this: Jesus of Nazareth was a man accredited by God to you by miracles, wonders and signs, which God did among you through him, as you yourselves know. NKJV 23 Him, being delivered by the determined purpose and foreknowledge of God, you have taken by lawless hands, have crucified, and put to death; NIV 23 This man was handed over to you by God's set purpose and foreknowledge; and you, with the help of wicked men, put him to death by nailing him to the cross. NKJV 24 whom God raised up, having loosed the pains of death, because it was not possible that He should be held by it. NIV 24 But God raised him from the dead, freeing him from the agony of death, because it was impossible for death to keep its hold on him. NKJV 25 For David says concerning Him: 'I foresaw the Lord always before my face, For He is at my right hand, that I may not be shaken. NIV 25 David said about him: " 'I saw the Lord always before me. Because he is at my right hand, I will not be shaken. NKJV 26 Therefore my heart rejoiced, and my tongue was glad; Moreover my flesh also will rest in hope. NIV 26 Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices; my body also will live in hope, NKJV 27 For You will not leave my soul in Hades, Nor will You allow Your Holy One to see corruption. NIV 27 because you will not abandon me to the grave, nor will you let your Holy One see decay. NKJV 28 You have made known to me the ways of life; You will make me full of joy in Your presence.' NIV 28 You have made known to me the paths of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence.' NKJV 29 "Men and brethren, let me speak freely to you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his tomb is with us to this day. NIV 29 "Brothers, I can tell you confidently that the patriarch David died and was buried, and his tomb is here to this day. NKJV 30 Therefore, being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him that of the fruit of his body, according to the flesh, He would raise up the Christ to sit on his throne, NIV 30 But he was a prophet and knew that God had promised him on oath that he would place one of his descendants on his throne. NKJV 31 he, foreseeing this, spoke concerning the resurrection of the Christ, that His soul was not left in Hades, nor did His flesh see corruption. NIV 31 Seeing what was ahead, he spoke of the resurrection of the Christ, that he was not abandoned to the grave, nor did his body see decay. NKJV 32 This Jesus God has raised up, of which we are all witnesses. NIV 32 God has raised this Jesus to life, and we are all witnesses of the fact. NKJV 33 Therefore being exalted to the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, He poured out this which you now see and hear. NIV 33 Exalted to the right hand of God, he has received from the Father the promised Holy Spirit and has poured out what you now see and hear. ' NIV 35 until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet." ' NKJV 36 "Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ." NIV 36 "Therefore let all Israel be assured of this: God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ." NKJV 37 Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, "Men and brethren, what shall we do?" NIV 37 When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, "Brothers, what shall we do?" NKJV 38 Then Peter said to them, "Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. NIV 38 Peter replied, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. NKJV 39 For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call." NIV 39 The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off--for all whom the Lord our God will call." NKJV 40 And with many other words he testified and exhorted them, saying, "Be saved from this perverse generation." NKJV 45 and sold their possessions and goods, and divided them among all, as anyone had need. NIV 45 Selling their possessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he had need. NKJV 46 So continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart, NIV 46 Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, NKJV 47 praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved. NIV 47 praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.
