Acts 20:18-35

RSV 18 And when they came to him, he said to them: "You yourselves know how I lived among you all the time from the first day that I set foot in Asia, NIV 18 When they arrived, he said to them: "You know how I lived the whole time I was with you, from the first day I came into the province of Asia. RSV 19 serving the Lord with all humility and with tears and with trials which befell me through the plots of the Jews; NIV 19 I served the Lord with great humility and with tears, although I was severely tested by the plots of the Jews. RSV 20 how I did not shrink from declaring to you anything that was profitable, and teaching you in public and from house to house, NIV 20 You know that I have not hesitated to preach anything that would be helpful to you but have taught you publicly and from house to house. RSV 21 testifying both to Jews and to Greeks of repentance to God and of faith in our Lord Jesus Christ. NIV 21 I have declared to both Jews and Greeks that they must turn to God in repentance and have faith in our Lord Jesus. RSV 22 And now, behold, I am going to Jerusalem, bound in the Spirit, not knowing what shall befall me there; NIV 22 "And now, compelled by the Spirit, I am going to Jerusalem, not knowing what will happen to me there. RSV 23 except that the Holy Spirit testifies to me in every city that imprisonment and afflictions await me. NIV 23 I only know that in every city the Holy Spirit warns me that prison and hardships are facing me. RSV 24 But I do not account my life of any value nor as precious to myself, if only I may accomplish my course and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God. NIV 24 However, I consider my life worth nothing to me, if only I may finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me--the task of testifying to the gospel of God's grace. RSV 25 And now, behold, I know that all you among whom I have gone preaching the kingdom will see my face no more. NIV 25 "Now I know that none of you among whom I have gone about preaching the kingdom will ever see me again. RSV 26 Therefore I testify to you this day that I am innocent of the blood of all of you, NIV 26 Therefore, I declare to you today that I am innocent of the blood of all men. RSV 27 for I did not shrink from declaring to you the whole counsel of God. NIV 27 For I have not hesitated to proclaim to you the whole will of God. RSV 28 Take heed to yourselves and to all the flock, in which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to care for the church of God which he obtained with the blood of his own Son. NIV 28 Keep watch over yourselves and all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers. Be shepherds of the church of God, which he bought with his own blood. RSV 29 I know that after my departure fierce wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock; NIV 29 I know that after I leave, savage wolves will come in among you and will not spare the flock. RSV 30 and from among your own selves will arise men speaking perverse things, to draw away the disciples after them. NIV 30 Even from your own number men will arise and distort the truth in order to draw away disciples after them. RSV 31 Therefore be alert, remembering that for three years I did not cease night or day to admonish every one with tears. NIV 31 So be on your guard! Remember that for three years I never stopped warning each of you night and day with tears. RSV 32 And now I commend you to God and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up and to give you the inheritance among all those who are sanctified. NIV 32 "Now I commit you to God and to the word of his grace, which can build you up and give you an inheritance among all those who are sanctified. RSV 33 I coveted no one's silver or gold or apparel. NIV 33 I have not coveted anyone's silver or gold or clothing. RSV 34 You yourselves know that these hands ministered to my necessities, and to those who were with me. NIV 34 You yourselves know that these hands of mine have supplied my own needs and the needs of my companions. RSV 35 In all things I have shown you that by so toiling one must help the weak, remembering the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, 'It is more blessed to give than to receive.'" NIV 35 In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: 'It is more blessed to give than to receive.' "
