Acts 24:10-21

RSVA 10 And when the governor had motioned to him to speak, Paul replied: "Realizing that for many years you have been judge over this nation, I cheerfully make my defense. RSVA 11 As you may ascertain, it is not more than twelve days since I went up to worship at Jerusalem; NIV 11 You can easily verify that no more than twelve days ago I went up to Jerusalem to worship. RSVA 12 and they did not find me disputing with any one or stirring up a crowd, either in the temple or in the synagogues, or in the city. NIV 12 My accusers did not find me arguing with anyone at the temple, or stirring up a crowd in the synagogues or anywhere else in the city. RSVA 13 Neither can they prove to you what they now bring up against me. NIV 13 And they cannot prove to you the charges they are now making against me. RSVA 14 But this I admit to you, that according to the Way, which they call a sect, I worship the God of our fathers, believing everything laid down by the law or written in the prophets, NIV 14 However, I admit that I worship the God of our fathers as a follower of the Way, which they call a sect. I believe everything that agrees with the Law and that is written in the Prophets, RSVA 15 having a hope in God which these themselves accept, that there will be a resurrection of both the just and the unjust. NIV 15 and I have the same hope in God as these men, that there will be a resurrection of both the righteous and the wicked. RSVA 16 So I always take pains to have a clear conscience toward God and toward men. NIV 16 So I strive always to keep my conscience clear before God and man. RSVA 17 Now after some years I came to bring to my nation alms and offerings. NIV 17 "After an absence of several years, I came to Jerusalem to bring my people gifts for the poor and to present offerings. RSVA 18 As I was doing this, they found me purified in the temple, without any crowd or tumult. But some Jews from Asia-- NIV 18 I was ceremonially clean when they found me in the temple courts doing this. There was no crowd with me, nor was I involved in any disturbance. RSVA 19 they ought to be here before you and to make an accusation, if they have anything against me. NIV 19 But there are some Jews from the province of Asia, who ought to be here before you and bring charges if they have anything against me. RSVA 20 Or else let these men themselves say what wrongdoing they found when I stood before the council, NIV 20 Or these who are here should state what crime they found in me when I stood before the Sanhedrin-- RSVA 21 except this one thing which I cried out while standing among them, 'With respect to the resurrection of the dead I am on trial before you this day.'" NIV 21 unless it was this one thing I shouted as I stood in their presence: 'It is concerning the resurrection of the dead that I am on trial before you today.' "
