Acts 3

WBT 1 Now Peter and John went up together into the temple, at the hour of prayer, [being] the ninth [hour]. NIV 1 One day Peter and John were going up to the temple at the time of prayer--at three in the afternoon. WBT 2 And a certain man lame from his mother's womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask alms of them that entered into the temple. NIV 2 Now a man crippled from birth was being carried to the temple gate called Beautiful, where he was put every day to beg from those going into the temple courts. WBT 3 Who, seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple, asked an alms. NIV 3 When he saw Peter and John about to enter, he asked them for money. WBT 4 And Peter fastening his eyes upon him with John, said, Look on us. NIV 4 Peter looked straight at him, as did John. Then Peter said, "Look at us!" WBT 5 And he gave heed to them, expecting to receive something from them. NIV 5 So the man gave them his attention, expecting to get something from them. WBT 6 Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have I give thee: in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk. NIV 6 Then Peter said, "Silver or gold I do not have, but what I have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk." WBT 7 And he took him by the right hand, and lifted [him] up: and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength. NIV 7 Taking him by the right hand, he helped him up, and instantly the man's feet and ankles became strong. WBT 8 And he leaping up stood, and walked, and entered with them into the temple, walking, and leaping, and praising God. NIV 8 He jumped to his feet and began to walk. Then he went with them into the temple courts, walking and jumping, and praising God. WBT 9 And all the people saw him walking and praising God: NIV 9 When all the people saw him walking and praising God, WBT 10 And they knew that it was he who sat for alms at the Beautiful gate of the temple: and they were filled with wonder and amazement at that which had happened to him. NIV 10 they recognized him as the same man who used to sit begging at the temple gate called Beautiful, and they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him. WBT 11 And as the lame man who was healed held Peter and John, all the people ran together to them in the porch that is called Solomon's, greatly wondering. NIV 11 While the beggar held on to Peter and John, all the people were astonished and came running to them in the place called Solomon's Colonnade. WBT 12 And when Peter saw [it], he answered to the people, Ye men of Israel, why marvel ye at this? or why look ye so earnestly on us, as though by our own power or holiness we had made this man to walk? NIV 12 When Peter saw this, he said to them: "Men of Israel, why does this surprise you? Why do you stare at us as if by our own power or godliness we had made this man walk? WBT 13 The God of Abraham, and of Isaac, and of Jacob, the God of our fathers hath glorified his Son Jesus; whom ye delivered up, and denied him in the presence of Pilate, when he was determined to let [him] go. NIV 13 The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified his servant Jesus. You handed him over to be killed, and you disowned him before Pilate, though he had decided to let him go. WBT 14 But ye denied the Holy One, and the Just, and desired a murderer to be granted to you, NIV 14 You disowned the Holy and Righteous One and asked that a murderer be released to you. WBT 15 And killed the Prince of life, whom God hath raised from the dead; of which we are witnesses. NIV 15 You killed the author of life, but God raised him from the dead. We are witnesses of this. WBT 16 And his name, through faith in his name, hath made this man strong, whom ye see and know: yes, the faith which is by him, hath given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all. NIV 16 By faith in the name of Jesus, this man whom you see and know was made strong. It is Jesus' name and the faith that comes through him that has given this complete healing to him, as you can all see. WBT 17 And now, brethren, I know that through ignorance ye did [it], as [did] also your rulers. NIV 17 "Now, brothers, I know that you acted in ignorance, as did your leaders. WBT 18 But those things which God before had shown by the mouth of all his prophets, that Christ should suffer, he hath so fulfilled. NIV 18 But this is how God fulfilled what he had foretold through all the prophets, saying that his Christ would suffer. WBT 19 Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord, NIV 19 Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord, WBT 20 And he will send Jesus Christ, who before was preached to you: NIV 20 and that he may send the Christ, who has been appointed for you--even Jesus. WBT 21 Whom the heaven must receive, until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets, since the world began. NIV 21 He must remain in heaven until the time comes for God to restore everything, as he promised long ago through his holy prophets. WBT 22 For Moses truly said to the fathers, A Prophet will the Lord your God raise up to you, of your brethren, like me; him shall ye hear in all things, whatever he shall say to you. NIV 22 For Moses said, 'The Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among your own people; you must listen to everything he tells you. WBT 23 And it shall come to pass, [that] every soul who will not hear that Prophet, shall be destroyed from among the people. NIV 23 Anyone who does not listen to him will be completely cut off from among his people.' WBT 24 And all the prophets also from Samuel, and those that follow, as many as have spoken, have likewise foretold these days. NIV 24 "Indeed, all the prophets from Samuel on, as many as have spoken, have foretold these days. WBT 25 Ye are the children of the prophets, and of the covenant which God made with our fathers, saying to Abraham, And in thy seed shall all the kindreds of the earth be blessed. NIV 25 And you are heirs of the prophets and of the covenant God made with your fathers. He said to Abraham, 'Through your offspring all peoples on earth will be blessed.' WBT 26 To you first, God having raised up his Son Jesus, sent him to bless you, in turning away every one of you from his iniquities. NIV 26 When God raised up his servant, he sent him first to you to bless you by turning each of you from your wicked ways."
