Acts 5:27-32

CEB 27 The apostles were brought before the council where the high priest confronted them: NRS 27 When they had brought them, they had them stand before the council. The high priest questioned them, CEB 28 "In no uncertain terms, we demanded that you not teach in this name. And look at you! You have filled Jerusalem with your teaching. And you are determined to hold us responsible for this man's death." NRS 28 saying, "We gave you strict orders not to teach in this name, yet here you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching and you are determined to bring this man's blood on us." CEB 29 Peter and the apostles replied, "We must obey God rather than humans! NRS 29 But Peter and the apostles answered, "We must obey God rather than any human authority. CEB 30 The God of our ancestors raised Jesus from the dead—whom you killed by hanging him on a tree. NRS 30 The God of our ancestors raised up Jesus, whom you had killed by hanging him on a tree. CEB 31 God has exalted Jesus to his right side as leader and savior so that he could enable Israel to change its heart and life and to find forgiveness for sins. NRS 31 God exalted him at his right hand as Leader and Savior that he might give repentance to Israel and forgiveness of sins. CEB 32 We are witnesses of such things, as is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey him." NRS 32 And we are witnesses to these things, and so is the Holy Spirit whom God has given to those who obey him."
