Acts 8:14-23

NLT 14 When the apostles back in Jerusalem heard that the people of Samaria had accepted God's message, they sent Peter and John there. NIV 14 When the apostles in Jerusalem heard that Samaria had accepted the word of God, they sent Peter and John to them. NLT 15 As soon as they arrived, they prayed for these new Christians to receive the Holy Spirit. NIV 15 When they arrived, they prayed for them that they might receive the Holy Spirit, NLT 16 The Holy Spirit had not yet come upon any of them, for they had only been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. NIV 16 because the Holy Spirit had not yet come upon any of them; they had simply been baptized into the name of the Lord Jesus. NIV 19 and said, "Give me also this ability so that everyone on whom I lay my hands may receive the Holy Spirit." NLT 20 But Peter replied, "May your money perish with you for thinking God's gift can be bought! NIV 20 Peter answered: "May your money perish with you, because you thought you could buy the gift of God with money! NLT 21 You can have no part in this, for your heart is not right before God. NIV 21 You have no part or share in this ministry, because your heart is not right before God. NLT 22 Turn from your wickedness and pray to the Lord. Perhaps he will forgive your evil thoughts, NIV 22 Repent of this wickedness and pray to the Lord. Perhaps he will forgive you for having such a thought in your heart. NLT 23 for I can see that you are full of bitterness and held captive by sin." NIV 23 For I see that you are full of bitterness and captive to sin."
