Colossians 1:15-23

RSV 15 He is the image of the invisible God, the first-born of all creation; NIV 15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. RSV 16 for in him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or authorities--all things were created through him and for him. NIV 16 For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him. RSV 17 He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. NIV 17 He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. RSV 18 He is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning, the first-born from the dead, that in everything he might be pre-eminent. NIV 18 And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy. RSV 19 For in him all the fulness of God was pleased to dwell, NIV 19 For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, RSV 20 and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross. NIV 20 and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross. RSV 21 And you, who once were estranged and hostile in mind, doing evil deeds, NIV 21 Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of your evil behavior. RSV 22 he has now reconciled in his body of flesh by his death, in order to present you holy and blameless and irreproachable before him, NIV 22 But now he has reconciled you by Christ's physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation-- RSV 23 provided that you continue in the faith, stable and steadfast, not shifting from the hope of the gospel which you heard, which has been preached to every creature under heaven, and of which I, Paul, became a minister. NIV 23 if you continue in your faith, established and firm, not moved from the hope held out in the gospel. This is the gospel that you heard and that has been proclaimed to every creature under heaven, and of which I, Paul, have become a servant.
