1 Josué se convierte en el líder de Israel<br />Cuando Moisés terminó de dar esas instrucciones<br /> a todo el pueblo de Israel,

Then Moses went out and spoke these words to all Israel:
2 dijo: «Ya tengo ciento veinte años y no puedo seguir guiándote. El Señor<br /> me dijo: “No cruzarás el río Jordán”.

“I am now a hundred and twenty years old and I am no longer able to lead you. The LORD has said to me, ‘You shall not cross the Jordan.’
3 Sin embargo, el Señor<br /> tu Dios sí cruzará delante de ti. Él destruirá a las naciones que viven allí, y tú tomarás posesión de esa tierra. Josué te guiará para cruzar el río, tal como el Señor<br /> prometió.

The LORD your God himself will cross over ahead of you. He will destroy these nations before you, and you will take possession of their land. Joshua also will cross over ahead of you, as the LORD said.
4 »El Señor<br /> destruirá a las naciones que viven en esa tierra, tal como destruyó a Sehón y a Og, los reyes de los amorreos.

And the LORD will do to them what he did to Sihon and Og, the kings of the Amorites, whom he destroyed along with their land.
5 El Señor<br /> te entregará a los que viven allí, y tú tendrás que hacer con ellos lo que te ordené.

The LORD will deliver them to you, and you must do to them all that I have commanded you.
6 ¡Así que sé fuerte y valiente! No tengas miedo ni sientas pánico frente a ellos, porque el Señor<br /> tu Dios, él mismo irá delante de ti. No te fallará ni te abandonará».

Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”
7 Luego Moisés mandó llamar a Josué y, en presencia de todo Israel, le dijo: «¡Sé fuerte y valiente! Pues tú guiarás a este pueblo a la tierra que el Señor<br /> juró a sus antepasados que les daría. Tú serás quien la repartirá entre ellos y se la darás como sus porciones de tierra.

Then Moses summoned Joshua and said to him in the presence of all Israel, “Be strong and courageous, for you must go with this people into the land that the LORD swore to their ancestors to give them, and you must divide it among them as their inheritance.
8 No temas ni te desalientes, porque el propio Señor<br /> irá delante de ti. Él estará contigo; no te fallará ni te abandonará».

The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.”
9 Lectura pública del libro de instrucción<br />Entonces Moisés escribió en un libro todo el conjunto de instrucciones y se lo dio a los sacerdotes que llevaban al arca del pacto del Señor<br /> y a los ancianos de Israel.

So Moses wrote down this law and gave it to the Levitical priests, who carried the ark of the covenant of the LORD, and to all the elders of Israel.
10 Luego Moisés les dio la siguiente orden: «Al final de cada séptimo año —el año de liberación— y durante el Festival de las Enramadas,

Then Moses commanded them: “At the end of every seven years, in the year for canceling debts, during the Festival of Tabernacles,
11 leerán este libro de instrucción a todo el pueblo de Israel cuando se reúna ante el Señor<br /> su Dios en el lugar que él elija.

when all Israel comes to appear before the LORD your God at the place he will choose, you shall read this law before them in their hearing.
12 Convoquen a todos —a hombres, mujeres, niños y a los extranjeros que vivan en sus ciudades— para que oigan lo que dice el libro de instrucción y aprendan a temer al Señor<br /> su Dios y a obedecer cuidadosamente todas las condiciones de estas instrucciones.

Assemble the people—men, women and children, and the foreigners residing in your towns—so they can listen and learn to fear the LORD your God and follow carefully all the words of this law.
13 Háganlo para que sus hijos que no saben nada de estas instrucciones, las oigan y aprendan a temer al Señor<br /> su Dios. Háganlo mientras vivan en la tierra que van a poseer al cruzar el Jordán».

Their children, who do not know this law, must hear it and learn to fear the LORD your God as long as you live in the land you are crossing the Jordan to possess.”
14 Predicción de la desobediencia de Israel<br />Luego el Señor<br /> le dijo a Moisés: «Ha llegado la hora de tu muerte. Llama a Josué y preséntate con él en el tabernáculo<br /> para entregarle mi encargo a Josué allí». Entonces Moisés y Josué fueron y se presentaron en el tabernáculo.

The LORD said to Moses, “Now the day of your death is near. Call Joshua and present yourselves at the tent of meeting, where I will commission him.” So Moses and Joshua came and presented themselves at the tent of meeting.
15 Así que el Señor<br /> se les apareció en una columna de nube que se detuvo en la entrada de la carpa sagrada.

Then the LORD appeared at the tent in a pillar of cloud, and the cloud stood over the entrance to the tent.
16 El Señor<br /> le dijo a Moisés: «Estás por morir y vas a reunirte con tus antepasados. Cuando ya no estés aquí, los israelitas comenzarán a rendir culto a dioses ajenos, los dioses de la tierra a la cual se dirigen. Me abandonarán y romperán el pacto que hice con ellos.

And the LORD said to Moses: “You are going to rest with your ancestors, and these people will soon prostitute themselves to the foreign gods of the land they are entering. They will forsake me and break the covenant I made with them.
17 Entonces mi enojo arderá contra ellos. Los abandonaré, esconderé mi rostro de ellos, y serán devorados. Pasarán terribles dificultades y, en aquel día, dirán: “¡Estas calamidades nos han ocurrido porque Dios ya no está entre nosotros!”.

And in that day I will become angry with them and forsake them; I will hide my face from them, and they will be destroyed. Many disasters and calamities will come on them, and in that day they will ask, ‘Have not these disasters come on us because our God is not with us?’
18 En esos días esconderé mi rostro de ellos debido a toda la maldad que cometen al rendir culto a otros dioses.

And I will certainly hide my face in that day because of all their wickedness in turning to other gods.
19 »Por lo tanto, escribe este canto y enséñalo a los israelitas. Ayúdalos a que lo aprendan, para que me sirva de testigo contra ellos.

“Now write down this song and teach it to the Israelites and have them sing it, so that it may be a witness for me against them.
20 Pues los haré entrar en la tierra que juré dar a sus antepasados, una tierra donde fluyen la leche y la miel. Allí llegarán a ser prósperos, comerán todo lo que quieran y engordarán. Pero comenzarán a rendir culto a otros dioses; me despreciarán y romperán mi pacto.

When I have brought them into the land flowing with milk and honey, the land I promised on oath to their ancestors, and when they eat their fill and thrive, they will turn to other gods and worship them, rejecting me and breaking my covenant.
21 Entonces cuando les ocurran grandes calamidades, este canto servirá de prueba en su contra, porque sus descendientes jamás lo olvidarán. Yo conozco las intenciones de este pueblo, incluso ahora que todavía no han entrado en la tierra que prometí darles».

And when many disasters and calamities come on them, this song will testify against them, because it will not be forgotten by their descendants. I know what they are disposed to do, even before I bring them into the land I promised them on oath.”
22 Así que, ese mismo día, Moisés escribió el canto y lo enseñó a los israelitas.

So Moses wrote down this song that day and taught it to the Israelites.
23 Luego el Señor<br /> encargó a Josué, hijo de Nun, con las siguientes palabras: «Sé fuerte y valiente porque tendrás que llevar al pueblo de Israel a la tierra que juré darles. Yo estaré contigo».

The LORD gave this command to Joshua son of Nun: “Be strong and courageous, for you will bring the Israelites into the land I promised them on oath, and I myself will be with you.”
24 Cuando Moisés terminó de escribir todo el conjunto de instrucciones en un libro,

After Moses finished writing in a book the words of this law from beginning to end,
25 les dio la siguiente orden a los levitas que llevaban el arca del pacto del Señor<br />:

he gave this command to the Levites who carried the ark of the covenant of the LORD:
26 «Tomen este libro de instrucción y pónganlo al lado del arca del pacto del Señor<br /> su Dios, para que quede allí como testigo contra ustedes, los israelitas.

“Take this Book of the Law and place it beside the ark of the covenant of the LORD your God. There it will remain as a witness against you.
27 Pues yo sé lo rebeldes y tercos que son. Incluso ahora que todavía sigo vivo y estoy con ustedes, se han rebelado contra el Señor<br />. ¡Cuánto más rebeldes se pondrán después de mi muerte!

For I know how rebellious and stiff-necked you are. If you have been rebellious against the LORD while I am still alive and with you, how much more will you rebel after I die!
28 »Llamen ahora a todos los ancianos y a los funcionarios de las tribus, para que les hable directamente y ponga al cielo y a la tierra como testigos en su contra.

Assemble before me all the elders of your tribes and all your officials, so that I can speak these words in their hearing and call the heavens and the earth to testify against them.
29 Yo sé que después de mi muerte ustedes se corromperán por completo y se apartarán del camino que les ordené seguir. En los días futuros, les vendrán calamidades porque harán lo malo a los ojos del Señor<br /> y lo enojarán mucho con sus acciones».

For I know that after my death you are sure to become utterly corrupt and to turn from the way I have commanded you. In days to come, disaster will fall on you because you will do evil in the sight of the LORD and arouse his anger by what your hands have made.”
30 El canto de Moisés<br />Entonces Moisés recitó el canto entero en presencia de toda la congregación de Israel:

And Moses recited the words of this song from beginning to end in the hearing of the whole assembly of Israel:
