Ephesians 5:3-17

RSVA 3 But fornication and all impurity or covetousness must not even be named among you, as is fitting among saints. NIV 3 But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God's holy people. RSVA 4 Let there be no filthiness, nor silly talk, nor levity, which are not fitting; but instead let there be thanksgiving. NIV 4 Nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk or coarse joking, which are out of place, but rather thanksgiving. RSVA 5 Be sure of this, that no fornicator or impure man, or one who is covetous (that is, an idolater), has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. NIV 5 For of this you can be sure: No immoral, impure or greedy person--such a man is an idolater--has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. RSVA 6 Let no one deceive you with empty words, for it is because of these things that the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience. NIV 6 Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of such things God's wrath comes on those who are disobedient. RSVA 7 Therefore do not associate with them, NIV 7 Therefore do not be partners with them. RSVA 8 for once you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord; walk as children of light NIV 8 For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light RSVA 9 (for the fruit of light is found in all that is good and right and true), NIV 9 (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth) RSVA 10 and try to learn what is pleasing to the Lord. NIV 10 and find out what pleases the Lord. RSVA 11 Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them. NIV 11 Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them. RSVA 12 For it is a shame even to speak of the things that they do in secret; NIV 12 For it is shameful even to mention what the disobedient do in secret. RSVA 13 but when anything is exposed by the light it becomes visible, for anything that becomes visible is light. NIV 13 But everything exposed by the light becomes visible, RSVA 14 Therefore it is said, "Awake, O sleeper, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give you light." NIV 14 for it is light that makes everything visible. This is why it is said: "Wake up, O sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you." RSVA 15 Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise men but as wise, NIV 15 Be very careful, then, how you live--not as unwise but as wise, RSVA 16 making the most of the time, because the days are evil. NIV 16 making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. RSVA 17 Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is. NIV 17 Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord's will is.
