NRS 21 Then the Lord said to Moses, "Stretch out your hand toward heaven so that there may be darkness over the land of Egypt, a darkness that can be felt." NIV 21 Then the LORD said to Moses, "Stretch out your hand toward the sky so that darkness will spread over Egypt--darkness that can be felt." NRS 22 So Moses stretched out his hand toward heaven, and there was dense darkness in all the land of Egypt for three days. NIV 22 So Moses stretched out his hand toward the sky, and total darkness covered all Egypt for three days. NRS 23 People could not see one another, and for three days they could not move from where they were; but all the Israelites had light where they lived. NIV 23 No one could see anyone else or leave his place for three days. Yet all the Israelites had light in the places where they lived. NRS 24 Then Pharaoh summoned Moses, and said, "Go, worship the Lord. Only your flocks and your herds shall remain behind. Even your children may go with you." NIV 24 Then Pharaoh summoned Moses and said, "Go, worship the LORD. Even your women and children may go with you; only leave your flocks and herds behind." NRS 25 But Moses said, "You must also let us have sacrifices and burnt offerings to sacrifice to the Lord our God. NIV 25 But Moses said, "You must allow us to have sacrifices and burnt offerings to present to the LORD our God. NRS 26 Our livestock also must go with us; not a hoof shall be left behind, for we must choose some of them for the worship of the Lord our God, and we will not know what to use to worship the Lord until we arrive there." NIV 26 Our livestock too must go with us; not a hoof is to be left behind. We have to use some of them in worshiping the LORD our God, and until we get there we will not know what we are to use to worship the LORD." NRS 27 But the Lord hardened Pharaoh's heart, and he was unwilling to let them go. NIV 27 But the LORD hardened Pharaoh's heart, and he was not willing to let them go. NRS 28 Then Pharaoh said to him, "Get away from me! Take care that you do not see my face again, for on the day you see my face you shall die." NIV 28 Pharaoh said to Moses, "Get out of my sight! Make sure you do not appear before me again! The day you see my face you will die." NRS 29 Moses said, "Just as you say! I will never see your face again." NIV 29 "Just as you say," Moses replied, "I will never appear before you again."
