KJV 9 And Moses said unto Joshua, Choose us out men, and go out , fight with Amalek: to morrow I will stand on the top of the hill with the rod of God in mine hand. NIV 9 Moses said to Joshua, "Choose some of our men and go out to fight the Amalekites. Tomorrow I will stand on top of the hill with the staff of God in my hands." KJV 10 So Joshua did as Moses had said to him, and fought with Amalek: and Moses, Aaron, and Hur went up to the top of the hill. KJV 11 And it came to pass, when Moses held up his hand, that Israel prevailed : and when he let down his hand, Amalek prevailed . NIV 11 As long as Moses held up his hands, the Israelites were winning, but whenever he lowered his hands, the Amalekites were winning. KJV 12 But Moses' hands were heavy; and they took a stone, and put it under him, and he sat thereon; and Aaron and Hur stayed up his hands, the one on the one side, and the other on the other side; and his hands were steady until the going down of the sun. NIV 12 When Moses' hands grew tired, they took a stone and put it under him and he sat on it. Aaron and Hur held his hands up--one on one side, one on the other--so that his hands remained steady till sunset. KJV 13 And Joshua discomfited Amalek and his people with the edge of the sword. NIV 13 So Joshua overcame the Amalekite army with the sword. KJV 14 And the LORD said unto Moses, Write this for a memorial in a book, and rehearse it in the ears of Joshua: for I will utterly put out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven. NIV 14 Then the LORD said to Moses, "Write this on a scroll as something to be remembered and make sure that Joshua hears it, because I will completely blot out the memory of Amalek from under heaven." KJV 15 And Moses built an altar, and called the name of it Jehovahnissi: NIV 15 Moses built an altar and called it The LORD is my Banner. KJV 16 For he said , Because the LORD hath sworn that the LORD will have war with Amalek from generation to generation. NIV 16 He said, "For hands were lifted up to the throne of the LORD. The LORD will be at war against the Amalekites from generation to generation."
