Exodus 35

NRS 1 Moses assembled all the congregation of the Israelites and said to them: These are the things that the Lord has commanded you to do: NIV 1 Moses assembled the whole Israelite community and said to them, "These are the things the LORD has commanded you to do: NRS 2 Six days shall work be done, but on the seventh day you shall have a holy sabbath of solemn rest to the Lord; whoever does any work on it shall be put to death. NIV 2 For six days, work is to be done, but the seventh day shall be your holy day, a Sabbath of rest to the LORD. Whoever does any work on it must be put to death. NRS 3 You shall kindle no fire in all your dwellings on the sabbath day. NIV 3 Do not light a fire in any of your dwellings on the Sabbath day." NRS 4 Moses said to all the congregation of the Israelites: This is the thing that the Lord has commanded: NIV 4 Moses said to the whole Israelite community, "This is what the LORD has commanded: NRS 5 Take from among you an offering to the Lord; let whoever is of a generous heart bring the Lord's offering: gold, silver, and bronze; NIV 5 From what you have, take an offering for the LORD. Everyone who is willing is to bring to the LORD an offering of gold, silver and bronze; NRS 6 blue, purple, and crimson yarns, and fine linen; goats' hair, NIV 6 blue, purple and scarlet yarn and fine linen; goat hair; NRS 7 tanned rams' skins, and fine leather; acacia wood, NIV 7 ram skins dyed red and hides of sea cows; acacia wood; NRS 8 oil for the light, spices for the anointing oil and for the fragrant incense, NIV 8 olive oil for the light; spices for the anointing oil and for the fragrant incense; NRS 9 and onyx stones and gems to be set in the ephod and the breastpiece. NIV 19 the woven garments worn for ministering in the sanctuary--both the sacred garments for Aaron the priest and the garments for his sons when they serve as priests." NRS 20 Then all the congregation of the Israelites withdrew from the presence of Moses. NIV 20 Then the whole Israelite community withdrew from Moses' presence, NRS 21 And they came, everyone whose heart was stirred, and everyone whose spirit was willing, and brought the Lord's offering to be used for the tent of meeting, and for all its service, and for the sacred vestments. NIV 21 and everyone who was willing and whose heart moved him came and brought an offering to the LORD for the work on the Tent of Meeting, for all its service, and for the sacred garments. NRS 22 So they came, both men and women; all who were of a willing heart brought brooches and earrings and signet rings and pendants, all sorts of gold objects, everyone bringing an offering of gold to the Lord. NIV 22 All who were willing, men and women alike, came and brought gold jewelry of all kinds: brooches, earrings, rings and ornaments. They all presented their gold as a wave offering to the LORD. NRS 23 And everyone who possessed blue or purple or crimson yarn or fine linen or goats' hair or tanned rams' skins or fine leather, brought them. NIV 23 Everyone who had blue, purple or scarlet yarn or fine linen, or goat hair, ram skins dyed red or hides of sea cows brought them. NRS 24 Everyone who could make an offering of silver or bronze brought it as the Lord's offering; and everyone who possessed acacia wood of any use in the work, brought it. NIV 24 Those presenting an offering of silver or bronze brought it as an offering to the LORD, and everyone who had acacia wood for any part of the work brought it. NRS 25 All the skillful women spun with their hands, and brought what they had spun in blue and purple and crimson yarns and fine linen; NIV 25 Every skilled woman spun with her hands and brought what she had spun--blue, purple or scarlet yarn or fine linen. NRS 26 all the women whose hearts moved them to use their skill spun the goats' hair. NIV 26 And all the women who were willing and had the skill spun the goat hair. NRS 27 And the leaders brought onyx stones and gems to be set in the ephod and the breastpiece, NIV 27 The leaders brought onyx stones and other gems to be mounted on the ephod and breastpiece. NRS 28 and spices and oil for the light, and for the anointing oil, and for the fragrant incense. NIV 28 They also brought spices and olive oil for the light and for the anointing oil and for the fragrant incense. NRS 29 All the Israelite men and women whose hearts made them willing to bring anything for the work that the Lord had commanded by Moses to be done, brought it as a freewill offering to the Lord. NIV 29 All the Israelite men and women who were willing brought to the LORD freewill offerings for all the work the LORD through Moses had commanded them to do. NRS 30 Then Moses said to the Israelites: See, the Lord has called by name Bezalel son of Uri son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah; NIV 30 Then Moses said to the Israelites, "See, the LORD has chosen Bezalel son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah, NRS 31 he has filled him with divine spirit, with skill, intelligence, and knowledge in every kind of craft, NIV 31 and he has filled him with the Spirit of God, with skill, ability and knowledge in all kinds of crafts-- NRS 32 to devise artistic designs, to work in gold, silver, and bronze, NIV 32 to make artistic designs for work in gold, silver and bronze, NRS 33 in cutting stones for setting, and in carving wood, in every kind of craft. NIV 33 to cut and set stones, to work in wood and to engage in all kinds of artistic craftsmanship. NRS 34 And he has inspired him to teach, both him and Oholiab son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan. NIV 34 And he has given both him and Oholiab son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan, the ability to teach others. NRS 35 He has filled them with skill to do every kind of work done by an artisan or by a designer or by an embroiderer in blue, purple, and crimson yarns, and in fine linen, or by a weaver—by any sort of artisan or skilled designer. NIV 35 He has filled them with skill to do all kinds of work as craftsmen, designers, embroiderers in blue, purple and scarlet yarn and fine linen, and weavers--all of them master craftsmen and designers.
