Exodus 6

CSB 1 But the Lord replied to Moses, "Now you are going to see what I will do to Pharaoh: he will let them go because of My strong hand; he will drive them out of his land because of My strong hand." NIV 1 Then the LORD said to Moses, "Now you will see what I will do to Pharaoh: Because of my mighty hand he will let them go; because of my mighty hand he will drive them out of his country." CSB 2 Then God spoke to Moses, telling him, "I am Yahweh. NIV 2 God also said to Moses, "I am the LORD. CSB 3 I appeared to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob as God Almighty, but I did not make My name Yahweh known to them. NIV 3 I appeared to Abraham, to Isaac and to Jacob as God Almighty, but by my name the LORD I did not make myself known to them. CSB 4 I also established My covenant with them to give them the land of Canaan, the land they lived in as foreigners. CSB 5 Furthermore, I have heard the groaning of the Israelites, whom the Egyptians are forcing to work as slaves, and I have remembered My covenant. CSB 6 "Therefore tell the Israelites: I am Yahweh, and I will deliver you from the forced labor of the Egyptians and free you from slavery to them. I will redeem you with an outstretched arm and great acts of judgment. NIV 6 "Therefore, say to the Israelites: 'I am the LORD, and I will bring you out from under the yoke of the Egyptians. I will free you from being slaves to them, and I will redeem you with an outstretched arm and with mighty acts of judgment. CSB 7 I will take you as My people, and I will be your God. You will know that I am Yahweh your God, who delivered you from the forced labor of the Egyptians. NIV 7 I will take you as my own people, and I will be your God. Then you will know that I am the LORD your God, who brought you out from under the yoke of the Egyptians. CSB 8 I will bring you to the land that I swore to give to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and I will give it to you as a possession. I am the Lord." NIV 8 And I will bring you to the land I swore with uplifted hand to give to Abraham, to Isaac and to Jacob. I will give it to you as a possession. I am the LORD.' " CSB 9 Moses told this to the Israelites, but they did not listen to him because of their broken spirit and hard labor. CSB 10 Then the Lord spoke to Moses, NIV 10 Then the LORD said to Moses, CSB 11 "Go and tell Pharaoh king of Egypt to let the Israelites go from his land." NIV 11 "Go, tell Pharaoh king of Egypt to let the Israelites go out of his country." CSB 12 But Moses said in the Lord's presence: "If the Israelites will not listen to me, then how will Pharaoh listen to me, since I am such a poor speaker?" NIV 12 But Moses said to the LORD, "If the Israelites will not listen to me, why would Pharaoh listen to me, since I speak with faltering lips ?" CSB 13 Then the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron and gave them commands concerning both the Israelites and Pharaoh king of Egypt to bring the Israelites out of the land of Egypt. NIV 13 Now the LORD spoke to Moses and Aaron about the Israelites and Pharaoh king of Egypt, and he commanded them to bring the Israelites out of Egypt. CSB 14 These are the heads of their fathers' families: The sons of Reuben, the firstborn of Israel: Hanoch and Pallu, Hezron and Carmi. These are the clans of Reuben. CSB 26 It was this Aaron and Moses whom the Lord told, "Bring the Israelites out of the land of Egypt according to their divisions." CSB 27 Moses and Aaron were the ones who spoke to Pharaoh king of Egypt in order to bring the Israelites out of Egypt. NIV 27 They were the ones who spoke to Pharaoh king of Egypt about bringing the Israelites out of Egypt. It was the same Moses and Aaron. CSB 28 On the day the Lord spoke to Moses in the land of Egypt, NIV 28 Now when the LORD spoke to Moses in Egypt, CSB 29 He said to him, "I am the Lord; tell Pharaoh king of Egypt everything I am telling you." NIV 29 he said to him, "I am the LORD. Tell Pharaoh king of Egypt everything I tell you." CSB 30 But Moses replied in the Lord's presence, "Since I am such a poor speaker, how will Pharaoh listen to me?" NIV 30 But Moses said to the LORD, "Since I speak with faltering lips, why would Pharaoh listen to me?"
