Exodus 6

HNV 1 The LORD said to Moshe, "Now you shall see what I will do to Par`oh, for by a strong hand he shall let them go, and by a strong hand he shall drive them out of his land." NIV 1 Then the LORD said to Moses, "Now you will see what I will do to Pharaoh: Because of my mighty hand he will let them go; because of my mighty hand he will drive them out of his country." HNV 2 God spoke to Moshe, and said to him, "I am the LORD; NIV 2 God also said to Moses, "I am the LORD. HNV 3 and I appeared to Avraham, to Yitzchak, and to Ya`akov, as El Shaddai; but by my name the LORD I was not known to them. NIV 3 I appeared to Abraham, to Isaac and to Jacob as God Almighty, but by my name the LORD I did not make myself known to them. HNV 4 I have also established my covenant with them, to give them the land of Kana`an, the land of their travels, in which they lived as aliens. NIV 4 I also established my covenant with them to give them the land of Canaan, where they lived as aliens. HNV 5 Moreover I have heard the groaning of the children of Yisra'el, whom the Mitzrim keep in bondage, and I have remembered my covenant. NIV 5 Moreover, I have heard the groaning of the Israelites, whom the Egyptians are enslaving, and I have remembered my covenant. HNV 6 Therefore tell the children of Yisra'el, 'I am the LORD, and I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Mitzrim, and I will rid you out of their bondage, and I will redeem you with an outstretched arm, and with great judgments: NIV 6 "Therefore, say to the Israelites: 'I am the LORD, and I will bring you out from under the yoke of the Egyptians. I will free you from being slaves to them, and I will redeem you with an outstretched arm and with mighty acts of judgment. HNV 7 and I will take you to me for a people, and I will be to you a God; and you shall know that I am the LORD your God, who brings you out from under the burdens of the Mitzrim. NIV 7 I will take you as my own people, and I will be your God. Then you will know that I am the LORD your God, who brought you out from under the yoke of the Egyptians. HNV 8 I will bring you into the land which I swore to give to Avraham, to Yitzchak, and to Ya`akov; and I will give it to you for a heritage: I am the LORD.'" NIV 8 And I will bring you to the land I swore with uplifted hand to give to Abraham, to Isaac and to Jacob. I will give it to you as a possession. I am the LORD.' " HNV 9 Moshe spoke so to the children of Yisra'el, but they didn't listen to Moshe for anguish of spirit, and for cruel bondage. NIV 9 Moses reported this to the Israelites, but they did not listen to him because of their discouragement and cruel bondage. HNV 10 The LORD spoke to Moshe, saying, NIV 10 Then the LORD said to Moses, HNV 11 "Go in, speak to Par`oh king of Mitzrayim, that he let the children of Yisra'el go out of his land." NIV 11 "Go, tell Pharaoh king of Egypt to let the Israelites go out of his country." HNV 12 Moshe spoke before the LORD, saying, "Behold, the children of Yisra'el haven't listened to me. How then shall Par`oh listen to me, who am of uncircumcised lips?" NIV 12 But Moses said to the LORD, "If the Israelites will not listen to me, why would Pharaoh listen to me, since I speak with faltering lips ?" HNV 13 The LORD spoke to Moshe and to Aharon, and gave them a charge to the children of Yisra'el, and to Par`oh king of Mitzrayim, to bring the children of Yisra'el out of the land of Mitzrayim. NIV 13 Now the LORD spoke to Moses and Aaron about the Israelites and Pharaoh king of Egypt, and he commanded them to bring the Israelites out of Egypt. HNV 14 These are the heads of their fathers' houses. The sons of Re'uven the firstborn of Yisra'el: Hanokh, and Pallu, Hetzron, and Karmi; these are the families of Re'uven. NIV 14 These were the heads of their families: The sons of Reuben the firstborn son of Israel were Hanoch and Pallu, Hezron and Carmi. These were the clans of Reuben. HNV 15 The sons of Shim`on: Yemu'el, and Yamin, and Ohad, and Yakhin, and Tzochar, and Sha'ul the son of a Kana`ani woman; these are the families of Shim`on. NIV 15 The sons of Simeon were Jemuel, Jamin, Ohad, Jakin, Zohar and Shaul the son of a Canaanite woman. These were the clans of Simeon. HNV 16 These are the names of the sons of Levi according to their generations: Gershon, and Kehat, and Merari; and the years of the life of Levi were one hundred thirty-seven years. NIV 16 These were the names of the sons of Levi according to their records: Gershon, Kohath and Merari. Levi lived 137 years. HNV 17 The sons of Gershon: Livni and Shim`i, according to their families. NIV 17 The sons of Gershon, by clans, were Libni and Shimei. HNV 18 The sons of Kehat: `Amram, and Yitzhar, and Hevron, and `Uzzi'el; and the years of the life of Kehat were one hundred thirty-three years. NIV 18 The sons of Kohath were Amram, Izhar, Hebron and Uzziel. Kohath lived 133 years. HNV 19 The sons of Merari: Machli and Mushi. These are the families of the Levites according to their generations. NIV 19 The sons of Merari were Mahli and Mushi. These were the clans of Levi according to their records. HNV 20 `Amram took Yokheved his father's sister to himself as wife; and she bore him Aharon and Moshe: and the years of the life of `Amram were a hundred and thirty-seven years. NIV 20 Amram married his father's sister Jochebed, who bore him Aaron and Moses. Amram lived 137 years. HNV 21 The sons of Yitzhar: Korach, and Nefeg, and Zikhri. NIV 21 The sons of Izhar were Korah, Nepheg and Zicri. HNV 22 The sons of `Uzzi'el: Misha'el, and Eltzafan, and Sitri. NIV 22 The sons of Uzziel were Mishael, Elzaphan and Sithri. HNV 23 Aharon took Elisheva, the daughter of `Amminadav, the sister of Nachshon, as his wife; and she bore him Nadav and Avihu, El`azar and Itamar. NIV 23 Aaron married Elisheba, daughter of Amminadab and sister of Nahshon, and she bore him Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar. HNV 24 The sons of Korach: Assir, and Elkana, and Avi'asaf; these are the families of the Korchi. NIV 24 The sons of Korah were Assir, Elkanah and Abiasaph. These were the Korahite clans. HNV 25 El`azar Aharon's son took one of the daughters of Puti'el as his wife; and she bore him Pinechas. These are the heads of the fathers' houses of the Levites according to their families. NIV 25 Eleazar son of Aaron married one of the daughters of Putiel, and she bore him Phinehas. These were the heads of the Levite families, clan by clan. HNV 26 These are that Aharon and Moshe, to whom the LORD said, "Bring out the children of Yisra'el from the land of Mitzrayim according to their hosts." NIV 26 It was this same Aaron and Moses to whom the LORD said, "Bring the Israelites out of Egypt by their divisions." HNV 27 These are those who spoke to Par`oh king of Mitzrayim, to bring out the children of Yisra'el from Mitzrayim. These are that Moshe and Aharon. NIV 27 They were the ones who spoke to Pharaoh king of Egypt about bringing the Israelites out of Egypt. It was the same Moses and Aaron. HNV 28 It happened on the day when the LORD spoke to Moshe in the land of Mitzrayim, NIV 28 Now when the LORD spoke to Moses in Egypt, HNV 29 that the LORD spoke to Moshe, saying, "I am the LORD. Speak to Par`oh king of Mitzrayim all that I speak to you." NIV 29 he said to him, "I am the LORD. Tell Pharaoh king of Egypt everything I tell you." HNV 30 Moshe said before the LORD, "Behold, I am of uncircumcised lips, and how shall Par`oh listen to me?" NIV 30 But Moses said to the LORD, "Since I speak with faltering lips, why would Pharaoh listen to me?"
