Ezekiel 10

RHE 1 And I saw and behold in the firmament that was over the heads of the cherubims, there appeared over them as it were the sapphire stone, as the appearance of the likeness of a throne. NIV 1 I looked, and I saw the likeness of a throne of sapphire above the expanse that was over the heads of the cherubim. RHE 2 And he spoke to the man, that was clothed with linen, and said: Go in between the wheels that are under the cherubims and fill thy hand with the coals of fire that are between the cherubims, and pour them out upon the city. And he went in, in my sight: NIV 2 The LORD said to the man clothed in linen, "Go in among the wheels beneath the cherubim. Fill your hands with burning coals from among the cherubim and scatter them over the city." And as I watched, he went in. RHE 3 And the cherubims stood on the right side of the house, when the man went in, and a cloud filled the inner court. NIV 3 Now the cherubim were standing on the south side of the temple when the man went in, and a cloud filled the inner court. RHE 4 And the glory of the Lord was lifted up from above the cherub to the threshold of the house: and the house was filled with the cloud, and the court was filled with the brightness of the glory of the Lord. NIV 4 Then the glory of the LORD rose from above the cherubim and moved to the threshold of the temple. The cloud filled the temple, and the court was full of the radiance of the glory of the LORD. RHE 5 And the sound of the wings of the cherubims was heard even to the outward court as the voice of God Almighty speaking. NIV 5 The sound of the wings of the cherubim could be heard as far away as the outer court, like the voice of God Almighty when he speaks. RHE 6 And when he had commanded the man that was clothed with linen, saying: Take fire from the midst of the wheels that are between the cherubims: he went in and stood beside the wheel. NIV 6 When the LORD commanded the man in linen, "Take fire from among the wheels, from among the cherubim," the man went in and stood beside a wheel. RHE 7 And one cherub stretched out his arm from the midst of the cherubims to the fire that was between the cherubims: and he took, and put it into the hands of him that was clothed with linen: who took it and went forth. NIV 7 Then one of the cherubim reached out his hand to the fire that was among them. He took up some of it and put it into the hands of the man in linen, who took it and went out. RHE 8 And there appeared in the cherubims the likeness of a man’s hand under their wings. NIV 8 (Under the wings of the cherubim could be seen what looked like the hands of a man.) RHE 9 And I saw, and behold there were four wheels by the cherubims: one wheel by one cherub, and another wheel by another cherub: and the appearance of the wheels was to the sight like the chrysolite stone: NIV 9 I looked, and I saw beside the cherubim four wheels, one beside each of the cherubim; the wheels sparkled like chrysolite. RHE 10 And as to their appearance, all four were alike: as if a wheel were in the midst of a wheel. NIV 10 As for their appearance, the four of them looked alike; each was like a wheel intersecting a wheel. RHE 11 And when they went, they went by four ways: and they turned not when they went: but to the place whither they first turned, the rest also followed, and did not turn back. NIV 11 As they moved, they would go in any one of the four directions the cherubim faced; the wheels did not turn about as the cherubim went. The cherubim went in whatever direction the head faced, without turning as they went. RHE 12 And their whole body, and their necks, and their hands, and their wings, and the circles were full of eyes, round about the four wheels. NIV 12 Their entire bodies, including their backs, their hands and their wings, were completely full of eyes, as were their four wheels. RHE 13 And these wheels he called voluble, in my hearing. NIV 13 I heard the wheels being called "the whirling wheels." RHE 14 And every one had four faces: one face was the face of a cherub, and the second face, the face of a man: and in the third was the face of a lion: and in the fourth the face of an eagle. NIV 14 Each of the cherubim had four faces: One face was that of a cherub, the second the face of a man, the third the face of a lion, and the fourth the face of an eagle. RHE 15 And the cherubims were lifted up: this is the living creature that I had seen by the river Chobar. NIV 15 Then the cherubim rose upward. These were the living creatures I had seen by the Kebar River. RHE 16 And when the cherubims went, the wheels also went by them: and when the cherubims lifted up their wings, to mount up from the earth, the wheels stayed not behind, but were by them. NIV 16 When the cherubim moved, the wheels beside them moved; and when the cherubim spread their wings to rise from the ground, the wheels did not leave their side. RHE 17 When they stood, these stood: and when they were lifted up, these were lifted up: for the spirit of life was in them. NIV 17 When the cherubim stood still, they also stood still; and when the cherubim rose, they rose with them, because the spirit of the living creatures was in them. RHE 18 And the glory of the Lord went forth from the threshold of the temple: and stood over the cherubims. NIV 18 Then the glory of the LORD departed from over the threshold of the temple and stopped above the cherubim. RHE 19 And the cherubims lifting up their wings, were raised from the earth before me: and as they went out, the wheels also followed: and it stood in the entry of the east gate of the house of the Lord: and the glory of the God of Israel was over them. NIV 19 While I watched, the cherubim spread their wings and rose from the ground, and as they went, the wheels went with them. They stopped at the entrance to the east gate of the LORD's house, and the glory of the God of Israel was above them. RHE 20 This is the living creature, which I saw under the God of Israel by the river Chobar: and I understood that they were cherubims. NIV 20 These were the living creatures I had seen beneath the God of Israel by the Kebar River, and I realized that they were cherubim. RHE 21 Each one had four faces, and each one had four wings: and the likeness of a man’s hand was under their wings. NIV 21 Each had four faces and four wings, and under their wings was what looked like the hands of a man. RHE 22 And as to the likeness of their faces, they were the same faces which I had seen by the river Chobar, and their looks, and the impulse of every one to go straight forward. NIV 22 Their faces had the same appearance as those I had seen by the Kebar River. Each one went straight ahead.
