1 Masacre de los idólatras<br />Entonces el Señor<br /> dijo con voz de trueno: «¡Traigan a los hombres designados para castigar la ciudad! ¡Díganles que vengan con sus armas!».

Then I heard him call out in a loud voice, “Bring near those who are appointed to execute judgment on the city, each with a weapon in his hand.”
2 Pronto entraron seis hombres por la puerta superior que da al norte y cada uno llevaba un arma mortal en la mano. Con ellos había un hombre vestido de lino, que llevaba un estuche de escriba en la cintura. Todos se dirigieron al atrio del templo y se pusieron de pie junto al altar de bronce.

And I saw six men coming from the direction of the upper gate, which faces north, each with a deadly weapon in his hand. With them was a man clothed in linen who had a writing kit at his side. They came in and stood beside the bronze altar.
3 Entonces la gloria del Dios de Israel se elevó de entre los querubines, donde había reposado, y se movió hacia la entrada del templo. Luego el Señor<br /> llamó al hombre vestido de lino, que llevaba el estuche de escriba.

Now the glory of the God of Israel went up from above the cherubim, where it had been, and moved to the threshold of the temple. Then the LORD called to the man clothed in linen who had the writing kit at his side
4 Le dijo: «Recorre las calles de Jerusalén y pon una marca en la frente de todos los que lloren y suspiren por los pecados detestables que se cometen en la ciudad».

and said to him, “Go throughout the city of Jerusalem and put a mark on the foreheads of those who grieve and lament over all the detestable things that are done in it.”
5 Luego oí al Señor<br /> decir a los demás hombres: «Síganlo por toda la ciudad y maten a todos los que no tengan la marca en la frente. ¡No tengan compasión! ¡No tengan lástima de nadie!

As I listened, he said to the others, “Follow him through the city and kill, without showing pity or compassion.
6 Mátenlos a todos: ancianos, jóvenes, muchachas, mujeres y niños. Sin embargo, no toquen a ninguno que tenga la marca. Comiencen aquí mismo, en el templo». Entonces ellos comenzaron matando a los setenta líderes.

Slaughter the old men, the young men and women, the mothers and children, but do not touch anyone who has the mark. Begin at my sanctuary.” So they began with the old men who were in front of the temple.
7 «¡Contaminen el templo! —mandó el Señor<br />—. Llenen los atrios con cadáveres. ¡Vayan!». Entonces ellos salieron y comenzaron la masacre por toda la ciudad.

Then he said to them, “Defile the temple and fill the courts with the slain. Go!” So they went out and began killing throughout the city.
8 Mientras mataban a la gente, yo me quedé solo. Caí con el rostro en tierra y clamé:<br />—¡Oh Señor<br /> Soberano! ¿Acaso tu furia contra Jerusalén destruirá a todos los que queden en Israel?

While they were killing and I was left alone, I fell facedown, crying out, “Alas, Sovereign LORD! Are you going to destroy the entire remnant of Israel in this outpouring of your wrath on Jerusalem?”
9 Me contestó:<br />—Los pecados del pueblo de Israel y Judá son muy, pero muy grandes. La tierra está llena de homicidios; la ciudad está colmada de injusticia. Ellos dicen: “¡El Señor<br /> no lo ve! ¡El Señor<br /> ha abandonado esta tierra!”.

He answered me, “The sin of the people of Israel and Judah is exceedingly great; the land is full of bloodshed and the city is full of injustice. They say, ‘The LORD has forsaken the land; the LORD does not see.’
10 Por eso no les perdonaré la vida ni les tendré compasión. Les daré todo su merecido por lo que han hecho.

So I will not look on them with pity or spare them, but I will bring down on their own heads what they have done.”
11 Luego regresó el hombre vestido de lino, que llevaba el estuche de escriba, e informó: «Ya hice lo que me ordenaste».

Then the man in linen with the writing kit at his side brought back word, saying, “I have done as you commanded.”
