Galatians 1

CEB 1 From Paul, an apostle who is not sent from human authority or commissioned through human agency, but sent through Jesus Christ and God the Father who raised him from the dead; NIV 1 Paul, an apostle--sent not from men nor by man, but by Jesus Christ and God the Father, who raised him from the dead-- CEB 2 and from all the brothers and sisters with me. To the churches in Galatia. NIV 2 and all the brothers with me, To the churches in Galatia: CEB 3 Grace and peace to you from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. NIV 3 Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, CEB 4 He gave himself for our sins, so he could deliver us from this present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father. NIV 4 who gave himself for our sins to rescue us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father, CEB 5 To God be the glory forever and always! Amen. NIV 5 to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen. CEB 6 I'm amazed that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you by the grace of Christ to follow another gospel. NIV 6 I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you by the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel-- CEB 7 It's not really another gospel, but certain people are confusing you and they want to change the gospel of Christ. NIV 7 which is really no gospel at all. Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ. CEB 8 However, even if we ourselves or a heavenly angel should ever preach anything different from what we preached to you, they should be under a curse. NIV 8 But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let him be eternally condemned! CEB 9 I'm repeating what we've said before: if anyone preaches something different from what you received, they should be under a curse! NIV 9 As we have already said, so now I say again: If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let him be eternally condemned! CEB 10 Am I trying to win over human beings or God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I wouldn't be Christ's slave. NIV 10 Am I now trying to win the approval of men, or of God? Or am I trying to please men? If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a servant of Christ. CEB 11 Brothers and sisters, I want you to know that the gospel I preached isn't human in origin. NIV 11 I want you to know, brothers, that the gospel I preached is not something that man made up. CEB 12 I didn't receive it or learn it from a human. It came through a revelation from Jesus Christ. NIV 12 I did not receive it from any man, nor was I taught it; rather, I received it by revelation from Jesus Christ. CEB 13 You heard about my previous life in Judaism, how severely I harassed God's church and tried to destroy it. NIV 13 For you have heard of my previous way of life in Judaism, how intensely I persecuted the church of God and tried to destroy it. CEB 14 I advanced in Judaism beyond many of my peers, because I was much more militant about the traditions of my ancestors. NIV 14 I was advancing in Judaism beyond many Jews of my own age and was extremely zealous for the traditions of my fathers. CEB 15 But God had set me apart from birth and called me through his grace. He was pleased NIV 15 But when God, who set me apart from birth and called me by his grace, was pleased CEB 16 to reveal his Son to me, so that I might preach about him to the Gentiles. I didn't immediately consult with any human being. NIV 16 to reveal his Son in me so that I might preach him among the Gentiles, I did not consult any man, CEB 17 I didn't go up to Jerusalem to see the men who were apostles before me either, but I went away into Arabia and I returned again to Damascus. NIV 17 nor did I go up to Jerusalem to see those who were apostles before I was, but I went immediately into Arabia and later returned to Damascus. CEB 18 Then after three years I went up to Jerusalem to visit Cephas and stayed with him fifteen days. NIV 18 Then after three years, I went up to Jerusalem to get acquainted with Peter and stayed with him fifteen days. CEB 19 But I didn't see any other of the apostles except James the brother of the Lord. NIV 19 I saw none of the other apostles--only James, the Lord's brother. CEB 20 Before God, I'm not lying about the things that I'm writing to you! NIV 20 I assure you before God that what I am writing you is no lie. CEB 21 Then I went into the regions of Syria and Cilicia, NIV 21 Later I went to Syria and Cilicia. CEB 22 but I wasn't known personally by the Christian churches in Judea. NIV 22 I was personally unknown to the churches of Judea that are in Christ. CEB 23 They only heard a report about me: "The man who used to harass us now preaches the faith that he once tried to destroy." NIV 23 They only heard the report: "The man who formerly persecuted us is now preaching the faith he once tried to destroy." CEB 24 So they were glorifying God because of me. NIV 24 And they praised God because of me.
