Galatians 1

CSB 1 Paul, an apostle-not from men or by man, but by Jesus Christ and God the Father who raised Him from the dead- NIV 1 Paul, an apostle--sent not from men nor by man, but by Jesus Christ and God the Father, who raised him from the dead-- CSB 2 and all the brothers who are with me: To the churches of Galatia. NIV 2 and all the brothers with me, To the churches in Galatia: CSB 3 Grace to you and peace from God the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ, NIV 3 Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, CSB 4 who gave Himself for our sins to rescue us from this present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father, NIV 4 who gave himself for our sins to rescue us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father, CSB 5 to whom be the glory forever and ever. Amen. NIV 5 to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen. CSB 6 I am amazed that you are so quickly turning away from Him who called you by the grace of Christ, [and are turning] to a different gospel- NIV 6 I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you by the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel-- CSB 7 not that there is another [gospel], but there are some who are troubling you and want to change the gospel of Christ. NIV 7 which is really no gospel at all. Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ. CSB 8 But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel other than what we have preached to you, a curse be on him! NIV 8 But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let him be eternally condemned! CSB 9 As we have said before, I now say again: if anyone preaches to you a gospel contrary to what you received, a curse be on him! NIV 9 As we have already said, so now I say again: If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let him be eternally condemned! CSB 10 For am I now trying to win the favor of people, or God? Or am I striving to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a slave of Christ. NIV 10 Am I now trying to win the approval of men, or of God? Or am I trying to please men? If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a servant of Christ. CSB 11 Now I want you to know, brothers, that the gospel preached by me is not based on a human point of view. NIV 11 I want you to know, brothers, that the gospel I preached is not something that man made up. CSB 12 For I did not receive it from a human source and I was not taught it, but it came by a revelation from Jesus Christ. NIV 12 I did not receive it from any man, nor was I taught it; rather, I received it by revelation from Jesus Christ. CSB 13 For you have heard about my former way of life in Judaism: I persecuted God's church to an extreme degree and tried to destroy it; NIV 13 For you have heard of my previous way of life in Judaism, how intensely I persecuted the church of God and tried to destroy it. CSB 14 and I advanced in Judaism beyond many contemporaries among my people, because I was extremely zealous for the traditions of my ancestors. NIV 14 I was advancing in Judaism beyond many Jews of my own age and was extremely zealous for the traditions of my fathers. CSB 15 But when God, who from my mother's womb set me apart and called me by His grace, was pleased NIV 15 But when God, who set me apart from birth and called me by his grace, was pleased CSB 16 to reveal His Son in me, so that I could preach Him among the Gentiles, I did not immediately consult with anyone. NIV 16 to reveal his Son in me so that I might preach him among the Gentiles, I did not consult any man, CSB 17 I did not go up to Jerusalem to those who had become apostles before me; instead I went to Arabia and came back to Damascus. NIV 17 nor did I go up to Jerusalem to see those who were apostles before I was, but I went immediately into Arabia and later returned to Damascus. CSB 18 Then after three years I did go up to Jerusalem to get to know Cephas, and I stayed with him 15 days. NIV 18 Then after three years, I went up to Jerusalem to get acquainted with Peter and stayed with him fifteen days. CSB 19 But I didn't see any of the other apostles except James, the Lord's brother. NIV 19 I saw none of the other apostles--only James, the Lord's brother. CSB 20 Now in what I write to you, I'm not lying. God is my witness. NIV 20 I assure you before God that what I am writing you is no lie. CSB 21 Afterwards, I went to the regions of Syria and Cilicia. NIV 21 Later I went to Syria and Cilicia. CSB 22 I remained personally unknown to the Judean churches in Christ; NIV 22 I was personally unknown to the churches of Judea that are in Christ. CSB 23 they simply kept hearing: "He who formerly persecuted us now preaches the faith he once tried to destroy." NIV 23 They only heard the report: "The man who formerly persecuted us is now preaching the faith he once tried to destroy." CSB 24 And they glorified God because of me. NIV 24 And they praised God because of me.
