Galatians 1

NKJV 1 Paul, an apostle (not from men nor through man, but through Jesus Christ and God the Father who raised Him from the dead), NIV 1 Paul, an apostle--sent not from men nor by man, but by Jesus Christ and God the Father, who raised him from the dead-- NKJV 2 and all the brethren who are with me, To the churches of Galatia: NIV 2 and all the brothers with me, To the churches in Galatia: NKJV 3 Grace to you and peace from God the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ, NIV 3 Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, NKJV 4 who gave Himself for our sins, that He might deliver us from this present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father, NIV 4 who gave himself for our sins to rescue us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father, NKJV 5 to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen. NIV 5 to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen. NKJV 6 I marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel, NIV 6 I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you by the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel-- NKJV 7 which is not another; but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert the gospel of Christ. NIV 7 which is really no gospel at all. Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ. NKJV 8 But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed. NIV 8 But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let him be eternally condemned! NKJV 9 As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed. NIV 9 As we have already said, so now I say again: If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let him be eternally condemned! NKJV 10 For do I now persuade men, or God? Or do I seek to please men? For if I still pleased men, I would not be a bondservant of Christ. NIV 10 Am I now trying to win the approval of men, or of God? Or am I trying to please men? If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a servant of Christ. NKJV 11 But I make known to you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached by me is not according to man. NIV 11 I want you to know, brothers, that the gospel I preached is not something that man made up. NKJV 12 For I neither received it from man, nor was I taught it, but it came through the revelation of Jesus Christ. NIV 12 I did not receive it from any man, nor was I taught it; rather, I received it by revelation from Jesus Christ. NKJV 13 For you have heard of my former conduct in Judaism, how I persecuted the church of God beyond measure and tried to destroy it. NIV 13 For you have heard of my previous way of life in Judaism, how intensely I persecuted the church of God and tried to destroy it. NKJV 14 And I advanced in Judaism beyond many of my contemporaries in my own nation, being more exceedingly zealous for the traditions of my fathers. NIV 14 I was advancing in Judaism beyond many Jews of my own age and was extremely zealous for the traditions of my fathers. NKJV 15 But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother's womb and called me through His grace, NIV 15 But when God, who set me apart from birth and called me by his grace, was pleased NKJV 16 to reveal His Son in me, that I might preach Him among the Gentiles, I did not immediately confer with flesh and blood, NIV 16 to reveal his Son in me so that I might preach him among the Gentiles, I did not consult any man, NKJV 17 nor did I go up to Jerusalem to those who were apostles before me; but I went to Arabia, and returned again to Damascus. NIV 17 nor did I go up to Jerusalem to see those who were apostles before I was, but I went immediately into Arabia and later returned to Damascus. NKJV 18 Then after three years I went up to Jerusalem to see Peter, and remained with him fifteen days. NIV 18 Then after three years, I went up to Jerusalem to get acquainted with Peter and stayed with him fifteen days. NKJV 19 But I saw none of the other apostles except James, the Lord's brother. NIV 19 I saw none of the other apostles--only James, the Lord's brother. NKJV 20 (Now concerning the things which I write to you, indeed, before God, I do not lie.) NIV 20 I assure you before God that what I am writing you is no lie. NKJV 21 Afterward I went into the regions of Syria and Cilicia. NIV 21 Later I went to Syria and Cilicia. NKJV 22 And I was unknown by face to the churches of Judea which were in Christ. NIV 22 I was personally unknown to the churches of Judea that are in Christ. NKJV 23 But they were hearing only, "He who formerly persecuted us now preaches the faith which he once tried to destroy." NIV 23 They only heard the report: "The man who formerly persecuted us is now preaching the faith he once tried to destroy." NKJV 24 And they glorified God in me. NIV 24 And they praised God because of me.
