Galatians 2:1-6

RSV 1 Then after fourteen years I went up again to Jerusalem with Barnabas, taking Titus along with me. NIV 1 Fourteen years later I went up again to Jerusalem, this time with Barnabas. I took Titus along also. RSV 2 I went up by revelation; and I laid before them (but privately before those who were of repute) the gospel which I preach among the Gentiles, lest somehow I should be running or had run in vain. NIV 2 I went in response to a revelation and set before them the gospel that I preach among the Gentiles. But I did this privately to those who seemed to be leaders, for fear that I was running or had run my race in vain. RSV 3 But even Titus, who was with me, was not compelled to be circumcised, though he was a Greek. NIV 3 Yet not even Titus, who was with me, was compelled to be circumcised, even though he was a Greek. RSV 4 But because of false brethren secretly brought in, who slipped in to spy out our freedom which we have in Christ Jesus, that they might bring us into bondage-- NIV 4 [This matter arose] because some false brothers had infiltrated our ranks to spy on the freedom we have in Christ Jesus and to make us slaves. RSV 5 to them we did not yield submission even for a moment, that the truth of the gospel might be preserved for you. NIV 5 We did not give in to them for a moment, so that the truth of the gospel might remain with you. RSV 6 And from those who were reputed to be something (what they were makes no difference to me; God shows no partiality) --those, I say, who were of repute added nothing to me; NIV 6 As for those who seemed to be important--whatever they were makes no difference to me; God does not judge by external appearance--those men added nothing to my message.
