Galatians 5:11-21

GNT 11 But as for me, my friends, if I continue to preach that circumcision is necessary, why am I still being persecuted? If that were true, then my preaching about the cross of Christ would cause no trouble. NIV 11 Brothers, if I am still preaching circumcision, why am I still being persecuted? In that case the offense of the cross has been abolished. GNT 12 I wish that the people who are upsetting you would go all the way; let them go on and castrate themselves! NIV 12 As for those agitators, I wish they would go the whole way and emasculate themselves! GNT 13 As for you, my friends, you were called to be free. But do not let this freedom become an excuse for letting your physical desires control you. Instead, let love make you serve one another. NIV 13 You, my brothers, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the sinful nature; rather, serve one another in love. GNT 14 For the whole Law is summed up in one commandment: "Love your neighbor as you love yourself." NIV 14 The entire law is summed up in a single command: "Love your neighbor as yourself." GNT 15 But if you act like wild animals, hurting and harming each other, then watch out, or you will completely destroy one another. NIV 15 If you keep on biting and devouring each other, watch out or you will be destroyed by each other. GNT 16 What I say is this: let the Spirit direct your lives, and you will not satisfy the desires of the human nature. NIV 16 So I say, live by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature. GNT 17 For what our human nature wants is opposed to what the Spirit wants, and what the Spirit wants is opposed to what our human nature wants. These two are enemies, and this means that you cannot do what you want to do. NIV 17 For the sinful nature desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the sinful nature. They are in conflict with each other, so that you do not do what you want. GNT 18 If the Spirit leads you, then you are not subject to the Law. NIV 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under law. GNT 19 What human nature does is quite plain. It shows itself in immoral, filthy, and indecent actions; NIV 19 The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; GNT 20 in worship of idols and witchcraft. People become enemies and they fight; they become jealous, angry, and ambitious. They separate into parties and groups; NIV 20 idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions GNT 21 they are envious, get drunk, have orgies, and do other things like these. I warn you now as I have before: those who do these things will not possess the Kingdom of God. NIV 21 and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.
