Galatians 5:13-26

NRS 13 For you were called to freedom, brothers and sisters; only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for self-indulgence, but through love become slaves to one another. NIV 13 You, my brothers, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the sinful nature; rather, serve one another in love. NRS 14 For the whole law is summed up in a single commandment, "You shall love your neighbor as yourself." NIV 14 The entire law is summed up in a single command: "Love your neighbor as yourself." NRS 15 If, however, you bite and devour one another, take care that you are not consumed by one another. NIV 15 If you keep on biting and devouring each other, watch out or you will be destroyed by each other. NRS 16 Live by the Spirit, I say, and do not gratify the desires of the flesh. NIV 16 So I say, live by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature. NRS 17 For what the flesh desires is opposed to the Spirit, and what the Spirit desires is opposed to the flesh; for these are opposed to each other, to prevent you from doing what you want. NIV 17 For the sinful nature desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the sinful nature. They are in conflict with each other, so that you do not do what you want. NRS 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not subject to the law. NIV 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under law. NRS 19 Now the works of the flesh are obvious: fornication, impurity, licentiousness, NIV 19 The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; NRS 20 idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy, anger, quarrels, dissensions, factions, NIV 20 idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions NRS 21 envy, drunkenness, carousing, and things like these. I am warning you, as I warned you before: those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. NIV 21 and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God. NRS 22 By contrast, the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, NIV 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, NRS 23 gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against such things. NIV 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. NRS 24 And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. NIV 24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature with its passions and desires. NRS 25 If we live by the Spirit, let us also be guided by the Spirit. NIV 25 Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. NRS 26 Let us not become conceited, competing against one another, envying one another. NIV 26 Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other.
