Genesis 10

CEB 1 These are the descendants of Noah's sons Shem, Ham, and Japheth, to whom children were born after the flood. NIV 1 This is the account of Shem, Ham and Japheth, Noah's sons, who themselves had sons after the flood. CEB 2 Japheth's sons: Gomer, Magog, Madai, Javan, Tubal, Meshech, and Tiras. NIV 7 The sons of Cush: Seba, Havilah, Sabtah, Raamah and Sabteca. The sons of Raamah: Sheba and Dedan. CEB 8 Cush fathered Nimrod, the first great warrior on earth. NIV 8 Cush was the father of Nimrod, who grew to be a mighty warrior on the earth. CEB 9 The LORD saw him as a great hunter, and so it is said, "Like Nimrod, whom the LORD saw as a great hunter." NIV 9 He was a mighty hunter before the LORD; that is why it is said, "Like Nimrod, a mighty hunter before the LORD." CEB 10 The most important cities in his kingdom were Babel, Erech, Accad, and Calneh in the land of Shinar. NIV 10 The first centers of his kingdom were Babylon, Erech, Akkad and Calneh, in Shinar. CEB 11 Asshur left that land and built Nineveh, Rehoboth City, Calah, NIV 11 From that land he went to Assyria, where he built Nineveh, Rehoboth Ir, Calah CEB 12 and Resen, the great city between Nineveh and Calah. NIV 12 and Resen, which is between Nineveh and Calah; that is the great city. CEB 13 Egypt fathered Ludim, Anamim, Lehabim, Naphtuhim, NIV 13 Mizraim was the father of the Ludites, Anamites, Lehabites, Naphtuhites, CEB 14 Pathrusim, Casluhim, and Caphtorim, from which the Philistines came. NIV 14 Pathrusites, Casluhites (from whom the Philistines came) and Caphtorites. CEB 15 Canaan fathered Sidon his oldest son, and Heth, NIV 15 Canaan was the father of Sidon his firstborn, and of the Hittites, CEB 16 the Jebusites, the Amorites, the Girgashites, NIV 16 Jebusites, Amorites, Girgashites, CEB 17 the Hivites, the Arkites, the Sinites, NIV 17 Hivites, Arkites, Sinites, CEB 18 the Arvadites, the Zemarites, and the Hamathites. After this the Canaanite clans were dispersed. NIV 18 Arvadites, Zemarites and Hamathites. Later the Canaanite clans scattered CEB 19 The Canaanite boundary extends from Sidon by way of Gerar to Gaza and by way of Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboiim to Lasha. NIV 19 and the borders of Canaan reached from Sidon toward Gerar as far as Gaza, and then toward Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah and Zeboiim, as far as Lasha. CEB 20 These are Ham's sons according to their clans, their languages, their lands, and their nations. NIV 20 These are the sons of Ham by their clans and languages, in their territories and nations. CEB 21 Children were also born to Shem the father of all Eber's children and Japheth's older brother. NIV 21 Sons were also born to Shem, whose older brother was Japheth; Shem was the ancestor of all the sons of Eber. CEB 22 Shem's sons: Elam, Asshur, Arpachshad, Lud, and Aram. NIV 22 The sons of Shem: Elam, Asshur, Arphaxad, Lud and Aram. CEB 23 Aram's sons: Uz, Hul, Gether, and Mash. NIV 23 The sons of Aram: Uz, Hul, Gether and Meshech. CEB 24 Arpachshad fathered Shelah, and Shelah fathered Eber. NIV 24 Arphaxad was the father of Shelah, and Shelah the father of Eber. CEB 25 To Eber were born two sons: The first was named Peleg, because during his lifetime the earth was divided. His brother's name was Joktan. NIV 25 Two sons were born to Eber: One was named Peleg, because in his time the earth was divided; his brother was named Joktan. CEB 26 Joktan fathered Almodad, Sheleph, Hazarmaveth, Jerah, NIV 26 Joktan was the father of Almodad, Sheleph, Hazarmaveth, Jerah, CEB 27 Hadoram, Uzal, Diklah, NIV 27 Hadoram, Uzal, Diklah, CEB 28 Obal, Abimael, Sheba, NIV 28 Obal, Abimael, Sheba, CEB 29 Ophir, Havilah, and Jobab. All of these were Joktan's sons. NIV 29 Ophir, Havilah and Jobab. All these were sons of Joktan. CEB 30 Their settlements extended from Mesha by way of Sephar, the eastern mountains. NIV 30 The region where they lived stretched from Mesha toward Sephar, in the eastern hill country. CEB 31 These are Shem's sons according to their clans, their languages, their lands, and their nations. NIV 31 These are the sons of Shem by their clans and languages, in their territories and nations. CEB 32 These are the clans of Noah's sons according to their generations and their nations. From them the earth's nations branched out after the flood. NIV 32 These are the clans of Noah's sons, according to their lines of descent, within their nations. From these the nations spread out over the earth after the flood.
