Genesis 10

LEB 1 These [are] the generations of the sons of Noah--Shem, Ham, and Japheth. Children were born to them after the flood. NIV 1 This is the account of Shem, Ham and Japheth, Noah's sons, who themselves had sons after the flood. LEB 2 The sons of Japheth: Gomer, Magog, Madai, Javan, Tubal, Meshech, and Tiras. NIV 2 The sons of Japheth: Gomer, Magog, Madai, Javan, Tubal, Meshech and Tiras. LEB 3 And the sons of Gomer: Ashkenaz, Riphath, and Togarmah. NIV 3 The sons of Gomer: Ashkenaz, Riphath and Togarmah. LEB 5 From these the coastland peoples spread out through their lands, each according to his own language by their own families, in their nations. NIV 5 (From these the maritime peoples spread out into their territories by their clans within their nations, each with its own language.) LEB 6 And the sons of Ham: Cush, Egypt, Put, and Canaan. NIV 6 The sons of Ham: Cush, Mizraim, Put and Canaan. LEB 7 And the sons of Cush: Seba, Havilah, Sabtah, Raamah, and Sabteca. The sons of Raamah: Sheba and Dedan. NIV 7 The sons of Cush: Seba, Havilah, Sabtah, Raamah and Sabteca. The sons of Raamah: Sheba and Dedan. LEB 8 And Cush fathered Nimrod. {He was the first on earth to be a mighty warrior}. NIV 8 Cush was the father of Nimrod, who grew to be a mighty warrior on the earth. LEB 9 He was a mighty hunter before Yahweh. Therefore it was said, "Like Nimrod a mighty hunter before Yahweh." NIV 9 He was a mighty hunter before the LORD; that is why it is said, "Like Nimrod, a mighty hunter before the LORD." LEB 10 Now, the beginning of his kingdom [was] Babel, Erech, Akkad, and Calneh, in the land of Shinar. NIV 10 The first centers of his kingdom were Babylon, Erech, Akkad and Calneh, in Shinar. LEB 11 From that land he went out [to] Assyria, and he built Nineveh, Rehoboth-Ir, Calah, NIV 11 From that land he went to Assyria, where he built Nineveh, Rehoboth Ir, Calah LEB 12 Resen between Nineveh and Calah; that [is] the great city. NIV 12 and Resen, which is between Nineveh and Calah; that is the great city. LEB 13 And Egypt fathered Ludim, Anamim, Lehabim, Naphtuhim, NIV 13 Mizraim was the father of the Ludites, Anamites, Lehabites, Naphtuhites, LEB 14 Pathrusim, and Casluhim (from whom the Philistines came), and Caphtorim. NIV 14 Pathrusites, Casluhites (from whom the Philistines came) and Caphtorites. LEB 15 Canaan fathered Sidon, his firstborn, and Heth, NIV 15 Canaan was the father of Sidon his firstborn, and of the Hittites, LEB 16 and the Jebusites, the Amorites, the Girgashites, NIV 16 Jebusites, Amorites, Girgashites, LEB 17 the Hivites, the Arkites, the Sinites, NIV 17 Hivites, Arkites, Sinites, LEB 18 the Arvadites, the Zemarites, and the Hamathites. Afterward the families of the Canaanites were spread abroad. NIV 18 Arvadites, Zemarites and Hamathites. Later the Canaanite clans scattered LEB 19 And the territory of the Canaanites [was] from Sidon {in the direction of} Gerar as far as Gaza, and {in the direction of} Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboiim, as far as Lasha. NIV 19 and the borders of Canaan reached from Sidon toward Gerar as far as Gaza, and then toward Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah and Zeboiim, as far as Lasha. LEB 20 These [are] the descendants of Ham, according to their families and their languages, in their lands, and in their nations. NIV 20 These are the sons of Ham by their clans and languages, in their territories and nations. LEB 21 And to Shem, the father of all the children of Eber, the older brother of Japheth, [children] were also born. NIV 21 Sons were also born to Shem, whose older brother was Japheth; Shem was the ancestor of all the sons of Eber. LEB 22 The sons of Shem: Elam, Asshur, Arphaxad, Lud, and Aram. NIV 22 The sons of Shem: Elam, Asshur, Arphaxad, Lud and Aram. LEB 23 And the sons of Aram: Uz, Hul, Gether, and Mash. NIV 23 The sons of Aram: Uz, Hul, Gether and Meshech. LEB 24 And Arphaxad fathered Shelah, and Shelah fathered Eber. NIV 24 Arphaxad was the father of Shelah, and Shelah the father of Eber. LEB 25 And to Eber two sons were born. The name of the one was Peleg, for in his days the earth was divided, and the name of his brother [was] Joktan. NIV 25 Two sons were born to Eber: One was named Peleg, because in his time the earth was divided; his brother was named Joktan. LEB 26 And Joktan fathered Almodad, Sheleph, Hazarmaveth, Jerah, NIV 26 Joktan was the father of Almodad, Sheleph, Hazarmaveth, Jerah, LEB 27 Hadoram, Uzal, Diklah, NIV 27 Hadoram, Uzal, Diklah, LEB 28 Obal, Abimael, Sheba, NIV 28 Obal, Abimael, Sheba, LEB 29 Ophir, Havilah, and Jobab. All these [were] the sons of Joktan. NIV 29 Ophir, Havilah and Jobab. All these were sons of Joktan. LEB 30 And their dwelling [place] {extended from} Mesha {in the direction of} Sephar [to] the hill country of the east. NIV 30 The region where they lived stretched from Mesha toward Sephar, in the eastern hill country. LEB 31 These [are] the sons of Shem, according to their families, according to their languages, in their lands, and according to their nations. NIV 31 These are the sons of Shem by their clans and languages, in their territories and nations. LEB 32 These are the families of the sons of Noah, according to their generations [and] in their nations. And from these the nations spread abroad on the earth after the flood. NIV 32 These are the clans of Noah's sons, according to their lines of descent, within their nations. From these the nations spread out over the earth after the flood.
