Genesis 10

WYC 1 These be the generations of the sons of Noe; Shem, Ham, and Japheth (These be the descendants of Noah's sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth). And sons were born to them after the great flood. NIV 1 This is the account of Shem, Ham and Japheth, Noah's sons, who themselves had sons after the flood. WYC 2 The sons of Japheth were Gomer, and Magog, and Madai, and Javan, and Tubal, and Meshech, and Tiras. NIV 2 The sons of Japheth: Gomer, Magog, Madai, Javan, Tubal, Meshech and Tiras. WYC 3 Forsooth the sons of Gomer were Ashkenaz, and Riphath, and Togarmah. NIV 3 The sons of Gomer: Ashkenaz, Riphath and Togarmah. WYC 4 Forsooth the sons of Javan were Elishah, and Tarshish, (and) Kittim, and Dodanim; NIV 4 The sons of Javan: Elishah, Tarshish, the Kittim and the Rodanim. WYC 5 of these sons the isles of the heathen men were parted in their countries, each by his language, and families, in his nations. (from these sons the heathen on the islands separated into their own countries, with their own languages, and families, and nations.) NIV 5 (From these the maritime peoples spread out into their territories by their clans within their nations, each with its own language.) WYC 6 Soothly the sons of Ham were Cush, and Mizraim, and Phut, and Canaan. NIV 6 The sons of Ham: Cush, Mizraim, Put and Canaan. WYC 7 Forsooth the sons of Cush were Seba, and Havilah, and Sabtah, and Raamah, and Sabtechah. The sons of Raamah were Sheba, and Dedan. NIV 7 The sons of Cush: Seba, Havilah, Sabtah, Raamah and Sabteca. The sons of Raamah: Sheba and Dedan. WYC 8 Forsooth Cush begat Nimrod; (and) he began to be mighty in [the] earth, NIV 8 Cush was the father of Nimrod, who grew to be a mighty warrior on the earth. WYC 9 and he was a strong hunter, or oppressor, of men before the Lord; of him a proverb went out, (saying,) As Nimrod, a strong hunter before the Lord. (and he was a strong hunter before the Lord; and a proverb went out about him, saying, Be ye like Nimrod, a strong hunter before the Lord.) NIV 9 He was a mighty hunter before the LORD; that is why it is said, "Like Nimrod, a mighty hunter before the LORD." WYC 10 Soothly the beginning of his realm was Babylon, and Erech, and Accad, and Calneh, in the land of Shinar. NIV 10 The first centers of his kingdom were Babylon, Erech, Akkad and Calneh, in Shinar. WYC 11 Asshur went out of that land, and builded Nineveh, and [the] streets of the city, and Calah, (And he went out of that land to Assyria, and he built the cities of Nineveh, and Rehoboth Ir, and Calah,) NIV 11 From that land he went to Assyria, where he built Nineveh, Rehoboth Ir, Calah WYC 12 and Resen betwixt Nineveh and Calah; this is a great city. NIV 12 and Resen, which is between Nineveh and Calah; that is the great city. WYC 13 And soothly Mizraim begat Ludim, and Anamim, and Lehabim, and Naphtuhim, (And Mizraim begat the Lydians, and Anamites, and Lehabites, and Naphtuhites,) NIV 13 Mizraim was the father of the Ludites, Anamites, Lehabites, Naphtuhites, WYC 14 and Pathrusim, and Casluhim; of which the Philistines and Caphtorim came forth. (and Pathrusites, and Casluhites, and the Caphtorites, from whom came forth the Philistines.) NIV 14 Pathrusites, Casluhites (from whom the Philistines came) and Caphtorites. WYC 15 Forsooth Canaan engendered Sidon, his first engendered son, (and) Heth, (And Canaan begat Sidon, his first-born son, and the Hittites,) NIV 15 Canaan was the father of Sidon his firstborn, and of the Hittites, WYC 16 and Jebusites, and Amorites, Girgashites, NIV 16 Jebusites, Amorites, Girgashites, WYC 17 (and) Hivites, and Arkites, (and) Sinites, NIV 17 Hivites, Arkites, Sinites, WYC 18 and Arvadites, (and) Zemarites, and Hamathites; and [the] peoples of (the) Canaanites were sown abroad by these men. NIV 18 Arvadites, Zemarites and Hamathites. Later the Canaanite clans scattered WYC 19 And the terms of Canaan were made to men coming from Sidon to Gerar, till to Gaza (And Canaan's borders went from Sidon to Gerar, and unto Gaza), (and then) till thou enter into Sodom, and Gomorrah, and Admah, and Zeboiim, till to Lasha. NIV 19 and the borders of Canaan reached from Sidon toward Gerar as far as Gaza, and then toward Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah and Zeboiim, as far as Lasha. WYC 20 These were the sons of Ham, in their kindreds, and languages, and generations, and lands, and folks (and nations). NIV 20 These are the sons of Ham by their clans and languages, in their territories and nations. WYC 21 Also of Shem were born the fathers of all the sons of Eber, and Japheth was the more, or elder, brother (of Shem) [and Shem was the elder brother of Japheth]. (And of Shem were born the fathers of all the sons of Eber, and Shem was the elder brother of Japheth.) NIV 21 Sons were also born to Shem, whose older brother was Japheth; Shem was the ancestor of all the sons of Eber. WYC 22 The sons of Shem were Elam, and Asshur, and Arphaxad, and Lud, and Aram. NIV 22 The sons of Shem: Elam, Asshur, Arphaxad, Lud and Aram. WYC 23 The sons of Aram were Uz, and Hul, and Gether, and Mash. NIV 23 The sons of Aram: Uz, Hul, Gether and Meshech. WYC 24 And soothly Arphaxad begat Salah, of whom Eber was born. NIV 24 Arphaxad was the father of Shelah, and Shelah the father of Eber. WYC 25 And two sons were born to Eber, the name to the one son was Peleg, for the land was parted in his days (for the peoples of the world were divided in his time); and the name of his brother was Joktan. NIV 25 Two sons were born to Eber: One was named Peleg, because in his time the earth was divided; his brother was named Joktan. WYC 26 And that Joktan begat Almodad, and Sheleph, and Hazarmaveth, (and) Jerah, NIV 26 Joktan was the father of Almodad, Sheleph, Hazarmaveth, Jerah, WYC 27 and Hadoram, and Uzal, and Diklah, NIV 27 Hadoram, Uzal, Diklah, WYC 28 and Obal, and Abimael, (and) Sheba, NIV 28 Obal, Abimael, Sheba, WYC 29 and Ophir, and Havilah, and Jobab; all these were the sons of Joktan. NIV 29 Ophir, Havilah and Jobab. All these were sons of Joktan. WYC 30 And the habitation of them was made from Mesha, as men goeth till to Sephar, an hill of the east. (And they lived in the hill country of the east, from Mesha unto Sephar.) NIV 30 The region where they lived stretched from Mesha toward Sephar, in the eastern hill country. WYC 31 These be the sons of Shem, by kindreds, and languages, and countries, in their folks (and nations). NIV 31 These are the sons of Shem by their clans and languages, in their territories and nations. WYC 32 These be the families of Noe, by their peoples, and nations; [the] folks in [the] earth were parted of these after the great flood. (These be the families of Noah, by their peoples, and their nations; all the nations on the earth came from these three men/came from these people after the great flood.) NIV 32 These are the clans of Noah's sons, according to their lines of descent, within their nations. From these the nations spread out over the earth after the flood.
