Genesis 11:5-15

CSB 5 Then the Lord came down to look over the city and the tower that the men were building. NIV 5 But the LORD came down to see the city and the tower that the men were building. CSB 6 The Lord said, "If, as one people all having the same language, they have begun to do this, then nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them. NIV 6 The LORD said, "If as one people speaking the same language they have begun to do this, then nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them. CSB 7 Come, let Us go down there and confuse their language so that they will not understand one another's speech." NIV 7 Come, let us go down and confuse their language so they will not understand each other." CSB 8 So the Lord scattered them from there over the face of the whole earth, and they stopped building the city. NIV 8 So the LORD scattered them from there over all the earth, and they stopped building the city. CSB 9 Therefore its name is called Babylon, for there the Lord confused the language of the whole earth, and from there the Lord scattered them over the face of the whole earth. NIV 9 That is why it was called Babel--because there the LORD confused the language of the whole world. From there the LORD scattered them over the face of the whole earth. CSB 10 These are the family records of Shem. Shem lived 100 years and fathered Arpachshad two years after the deluge. NIV 10 This is the account of Shem. Two years after the flood, when Shem was 100 years old, he became the father of Arphaxad. CSB 11 After he fathered Arpachshad, Shem lived 500 years and fathered [other] sons and daughters. NIV 11 And after he became the father of Arphaxad, Shem lived 500 years and had other sons and daughters. CSB 12 Arpachshad lived 35 years and fathered Shelah. NIV 12 When Arphaxad had lived 35 years, he became the father of Shelah. CSB 13 After he fathered Shelah, Arpachshad lived 403 years and fathered [other] sons and daughters. NIV 13 And after he became the father of Shelah, Arphaxad lived 403 years and had other sons and daughters. CSB 14 Shelah lived 30 years and fathered Eber. NIV 14 When Shelah had lived 30 years, he became the father of Eber. CSB 15 After he fathered Eber, Shelah lived 403 years and fathered [other] sons and daughters. NIV 15 And after he became the father of Eber, Shelah lived 403 years and had other sons and daughters.
