NIV 1 Then God said to Jacob, "Go up to Bethel and settle there, and build an altar there to God, who appeared to you when you were fleeing from your brother Esau." WBT 2 Then Jacob said to his household, and to all that [were] with him, Put away the strange gods that [are] among you, and be clean, and change your garments: NIV 2 So Jacob said to his household and to all who were with him, "Get rid of the foreign gods you have with you, and purify yourselves and change your clothes. WBT 3 And let us arise, and go up to Beth-el; and I will make there an altar to God, who answered me in the day of my distress, and was with me in the way which I went. NIV 3 Then come, let us go up to Bethel, where I will build an altar to God, who answered me in the day of my distress and who has been with me wherever I have gone." WBT 4 And they gave to Jacob all the strange gods which [were] in their hand, and [the] ear-rings which [were] in their ears; and Jacob hid them under the oak which [was] by Shechem.
