Genesis 37:1-6

DBY 1 And Jacob dwelt in the land where his father sojourned -- in the land of Canaan. NIV 1 Jacob lived in the land where his father had stayed, the land of Canaan. DBY 2 These are the generations of Jacob. Joseph, being seventeen years old, fed the flock with his brethren; and he was doing service with the sons of Bilhah, and with the sons of Zilpah, his father's wives. And Joseph brought to his father an evil report of them. NIV 2 This is the account of Jacob. Joseph, a young man of seventeen, was tending the flocks with his brothers, the sons of Bilhah and the sons of Zilpah, his father's wives, and he brought their father a bad report about them. DBY 3 And Israel loved Joseph more than all his sons, because he was son of his old age; and he made him a vest of many colours. NIV 3 Now Israel loved Joseph more than any of his other sons, because he had been born to him in his old age; and he made a richly ornamented robe for him. DBY 4 And his brethren saw that their father loved him more than all his brethren, and they hated him, and could not greet him with friendliness. NIV 4 When his brothers saw that their father loved him more than any of them, they hated him and could not speak a kind word to him. DBY 5 And Joseph dreamed a dream, and told [it] to his brethren, and they hated him yet the more. NIV 5 Joseph had a dream, and when he told it to his brothers, they hated him all the more.
