Genesis 40:8-18

NAS 8 Then they said to him, "We have had a dream and there is no one to interpret it." Then Joseph said to them, "Do not interpretations belong to God? Tell it to me, please." NIV 8 "We both had dreams," they answered, "but there is no one to interpret them." Then Joseph said to them, "Do not interpretations belong to God? Tell me your dreams." NAS 9 So the chief cupbearer told his dream to Joseph, and said to him, "In my dream, behold, there was a vine in front of me; NIV 9 So the chief cupbearer told Joseph his dream. He said to him, "In my dream I saw a vine in front of me, NAS 10 and on the vine were three branches. And as it was budding, its blossoms came out, and its clusters produced ripe grapes. NIV 10 and on the vine were three branches. As soon as it budded, it blossomed, and its clusters ripened into grapes. NAS 11 "Now Pharaoh's cup was in my hand; so I took the grapes and squeezed them into Pharaoh's cup, and I put the cup into Pharaoh's hand." NIV 11 Pharaoh's cup was in my hand, and I took the grapes, squeezed them into Pharaoh's cup and put the cup in his hand." NAS 12 Then Joseph said to him, "This is the interpretation of it: the three branches are three days; NIV 12 "This is what it means," Joseph said to him. "The three branches are three days. NAS 13 within three more days Pharaoh will lift up your head and restore you to your office; and you will put Pharaoh's cup into his hand according to your former custom when you were his cupbearer. NIV 13 Within three days Pharaoh will lift up your head and restore you to your position, and you will put Pharaoh's cup in his hand, just as you used to do when you were his cupbearer. NAS 14 "Only keep me in mind when it goes well with you, and please do me a kindness by mentioning me to Pharaoh and get me out of this house. NIV 14 But when all goes well with you, remember me and show me kindness; mention me to Pharaoh and get me out of this prison. NAS 15 "For I was in fact kidnapped from the land of the Hebrews, and even here I have done nothing that they should have put me into the dungeon." NIV 15 For I was forcibly carried off from the land of the Hebrews, and even here I have done nothing to deserve being put in a dungeon." NAS 16 When the chief baker saw that he had interpreted favorably, he said to Joseph, "I also saw in my dream, and behold, there were three baskets of white bread on my head; NIV 16 When the chief baker saw that Joseph had given a favorable interpretation, he said to Joseph, "I too had a dream: On my head were three baskets of bread. NAS 17 and in the top basket there were some of all sorts of baked food for Pharaoh, and the birds were eating them out of the basket on my head." NIV 17 In the top basket were all kinds of baked goods for Pharaoh, but the birds were eating them out of the basket on my head." NAS 18 Then Joseph answered and said, "This is its interpretation: the three baskets are three days; NIV 18 "This is what it means," Joseph said. "The three baskets are three days.
