Genesis 4:1-6

RSVA 1 Now Adam knew Eve his wife, and she conceived and bore Cain, saying, "I have gotten a man with the help of the LORD." NIV 1 Adam lay with his wife Eve, and she became pregnant and gave birth to Cain. She said, "With the help of the LORD I have brought forth a man." RSVA 2 And again, she bore his brother Abel. Now Abel was a keeper of sheep, and Cain a tiller of the ground. NIV 2 Later she gave birth to his brother Abel. Now Abel kept flocks, and Cain worked the soil. RSVA 3 In the course of time Cain brought to the LORD an offering of the fruit of the ground, NIV 3 In the course of time Cain brought some of the fruits of the soil as an offering to the LORD. RSVA 4 and Abel brought of the firstlings of his flock and of their fat portions. And the LORD had regard for Abel and his offering, NIV 4 But Abel brought fat portions from some of the firstborn of his flock. The LORD looked with favor on Abel and his offering, RSVA 5 but for Cain and his offering he had no regard. So Cain was very angry, and his countenance fell. NIV 5 but on Cain and his offering he did not look with favor. So Cain was very angry, and his face was downcast. RSVA 6 The LORD said to Cain, "Why are you angry, and why has your countenance fallen? NIV 6 Then the LORD said to Cain, "Why are you angry? Why is your face downcast?
