8 I figliuoli d’Israele fecero dunque come Giosuè aveva ordinato; presero dodici pietre di mezzo al Giordano, come l’Eterno avea detto a Giosuè secondo il numero delle tribù de’ figliuoli d’Israele; le portarono con loro di là dal fiume nel luogo ove doveano passar la notte, e quivi le collocarono.

So the Israelites did as Joshua commanded them. They took twelve stones from the middle of the Jordan, according to the number of the tribes of the Israelites, as the LORD had told Joshua; and they carried them over with them to their camp, where they put them down.
