Hebrews 10:32-39

RSV 32 But recall the former days when, after you were enlightened, you endured a hard struggle with sufferings, NIV 32 Remember those earlier days after you had received the light, when you stood your ground in a great contest in the face of suffering. RSV 33 sometimes being publicly exposed to abuse and affliction, and sometimes being partners with those so treated. NIV 33 Sometimes you were publicly exposed to insult and persecution; at other times you stood side by side with those who were so treated. RSV 34 For you had compassion on the prisoners, and you joyfully accepted the plundering of your property, since you knew that you yourselves had a better possession and an abiding one. NIV 34 You sympathized with those in prison and joyfully accepted the confiscation of your property, because you knew that you yourselves had better and lasting possessions. RSV 35 Therefore do not throw away your confidence, which has a great reward. NIV 35 So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded. RSV 36 For you have need of endurance, so that you may do the will of God and receive what is promised. NIV 36 You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised. RSV 37 "For yet a little while, and the coming one shall come and shall not tarry; NIV 37 For in just a very little while, "He who is coming will come and will not delay. RSV 38 but my righteous one shall live by faith, and if he shrinks back, my soul has no pleasure in him." NIV 38 But my righteous one will live by faith. And if he shrinks back, I will not be pleased with him." RSV 39 But we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who have faith and keep their souls. NIV 39 But we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who believe and are saved.
