Hebrews 13

NRS 1 Let mutual love continue. NIV 1 Keep on loving each other as brothers. NRS 2 Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by doing that some have entertained angels without knowing it. NIV 2 Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some people have entertained angels without knowing it. NRS 3 Remember those who are in prison, as though you were in prison with them; those who are being tortured, as though you yourselves were being tortured. NIV 3 Remember those in prison as if you were their fellow prisoners, and those who are mistreated as if you yourselves were suffering. NRS 4 Let marriage be held in honor by all, and let the marriage bed be kept undefiled; for God will judge fornicators and adulterers. NIV 4 Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral. NRS 5 Keep your lives free from the love of money, and be content with what you have; for he has said, "I will never leave you or forsake you." NIV 5 Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, "Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you." NRS 6 So we can say with confidence, "The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can anyone do to me?" NIV 6 So we say with confidence, "The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?" NRS 7 Remember your leaders, those who spoke the word of God to you; consider the outcome of their way of life, and imitate their faith. NIV 8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. NRS 9 Do not be carried away by all kinds of strange teachings; for it is well for the heart to be strengthened by grace, not by regulations about food, which have not benefited those who observe them. NIV 9 Do not be carried away by all kinds of strange teachings. It is good for our hearts to be strengthened by grace, not by ceremonial foods, which are of no value to those who eat them. NRS 10 We have an altar from which those who officiate in the tent have no right to eat. NIV 10 We have an altar from which those who minister at the tabernacle have no right to eat. NRS 11 For the bodies of those animals whose blood is brought into the sanctuary by the high priest as a sacrifice for sin are burned outside the camp. NIV 11 The high priest carries the blood of animals into the Most Holy Place as a sin offering, but the bodies are burned outside the camp. NRS 12 Therefore Jesus also suffered outside the city gate in order to sanctify the people by his own blood. NIV 12 And so Jesus also suffered outside the city gate to make the people holy through his own blood. NRS 13 Let us then go to him outside the camp and bear the abuse he endured. NIV 13 Let us, then, go to him outside the camp, bearing the disgrace he bore. NRS 14 For here we have no lasting city, but we are looking for the city that is to come. NIV 14 For here we do not have an enduring city, but we are looking for the city that is to come. NRS 15 Through him, then, let us continually offer a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that confess his name. NIV 15 Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise--the fruit of lips that confess his name. NRS 16 Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God. NIV 16 And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased. NRS 17 Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they are keeping watch over your souls and will give an account. Let them do this with joy and not with sighing—for that would be harmful to you. NIV 17 Obey your leaders and submit to their authority. They keep watch over you as men who must give an account. Obey them so that their work will be a joy, not a burden, for that would be of no advantage to you. NRS 18 Pray for us; we are sure that we have a clear conscience, desiring to act honorably in all things. NIV 18 Pray for us. We are sure that we have a clear conscience and desire to live honorably in every way. NRS 19 I urge you all the more to do this, so that I may be restored to you very soon.
